How to Apply Cream, Liquid, and Powder Blush

8

I’m leaving for Palm Springs in a couple of hours. How did this happen? I feel like I just got back from my last trip to the desert yesterday!

Super excited to see my family and celebrate Thanksgiving by the pool. I’ve also packed my video camera in hopes that my sister will film with me. I’m thinking a 2011 beauty and hair favorites video? I’m not sure how Lala feels about videos, but you all would welcome her with open arms, right? Right? (Please tell her to do it, if only to witness her gorgeous hair on video. Seriously, it’s ridiculous.)

In the meantime, here’s a video I filmed for Style United on how to properly apply different types of blush. I’m all about creating the perfectly flushed cheek during the holidays, and this video should (hopefully!) help anyone wondering about powder, cream, and liquid blushes.

Some of my favorite blushes are:

POWDER:

Nars Desire
Nars Orgasm
Chanel Fuchsia Tweed (Worn in the video)
Chanel Tempting Beige
Benefit Sugarbomb
Benefit Coralista

CREAM:

Illamasqua Cream Blusher in Promise (Worn in the video)
Tarte The Perfect Pink
Tarte Tickled
Tarte Ten

LIQUID:

Sonia Kashuk Peony (Worn in the video)
Pixi Sheer Gel in Natural

Must pack immediately. Have a happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Drybar – Newport Beach

Last week, I was invited by the lovely folks at Drybar to drop in the salon and enjoy a complimentary blowout. Trust me, it was time, as you can tell from the following photo.

It had been several days, ladies and gents. Mama needed a wash.

Upon arriving at the salon, I fell in love immediately. The design was chic, the branding was adorable, and the staff was super friendly.

Love the yellow!

Lovely, right?

And Drybar has the best chandelier in town, for sure.

Plus, the entire line of Moroccan Oil products.

After a relaxing shampoo, I chose from the menu of blowout options. (Such a great concept because we all know that not all blowouts are the same!)

I chose the Straight Up, which is DryBar’s signature blowout. (Straight with body, although we ended up using a large-barreled curling iron as the finishing step for me.)

And voilá!

The best part? The blowout lasted 4 days.

If you have a Drybar in your area, I highly recommend checking it out. Loved every minute!

Hair Romance: 30 Days of Gorgeous Updos

I don’t know about you, but I’m updo-challenged. Besides the fact that my hair repels bobby pins with brute force, I have never been able to get the hang of it.

That is, until now. Seriously, ladies, I think I’ve figured it all out, thanks to Christina’s blog, Hair Romance. Have you seen her blog? Ahhhhh, just post after post of hair goodness.

Besides Christina’s inspiring posts, she has published an eBook of her 30 favorite updos, 30 Hairstyles in 30 Days, with step-by-step tutorials on how to create each one.

(I’m wearing Day 18 in the photo above, and it took me all of 3 minutes.)

Not only does Christina show you step-by-step photos and directions, she has pages dedicated to styling products, styling tools, tips on blowdrying, and her cool “twist and pin” technique, which makes updos so much easier to accomplish.

For a paltry $9.95, you can buy her eBook of 30 lovely updos, and it’s worth every penny. I’m telling you, you won’t be disappointed. Buy it now and you’ll have updos out the yin yang for the upcoming holiday season!
