Odds and Ends

1. For those of you patiently awaiting my skincare post, it’s coming this week. Hang tight!

2. This week marks the last week of my family friendly meal posts at CafeMom. If you’re interested, here are the recipes so far. Burgers and black bean/corn salad. Pork and bean stew. Slow Cooker Barbecue Chicken and Crispy Kale Chips. Homemade taco seasoning. Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Slow Cooker Beef Stew with Button Mushrooms. Slow Cooker Chunky Minestrone.

3. You guys, you have got to watch this video of Wita’s reaction to Glee‘s “Teenage Dream.” She is her mother’s daughter, that’s for sure.

4. My choices for the 5 tackiest Halloween costumes at Babble. #1 still perplexes me.

5. Remember when I mentioned how I started my dream blogging job last January? 11 months later, the website is about to launch, and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you all. I’ve been writing articles and filming beauty tutorials all year, and the site is launching within the next few weeks! (Psst…here’s the website! OMG SO EXCITED.)

6. Please don’t forget about my Diaper Drive Raffle going on until the end of the month. For just 5 dollars, you can enter to win fantastic prizes, and 100% of the proceeds go directly to putting clean, dry diapers on babies who desperately need them. Please help if you can, and a HUGE thank you to everyone who donated last week. $435 raised so far!

7. Good Lord, is that enough information for the day? Geez. Have a great Monday!

Lauren Ford Photography

Last week, my friend Lauren had an impromptu photo session with the kiddos. Lauren is a fantastic photographer, so I expected some darling photos, but I wasn’t prepared for just HOW DARLING they were.

Fantastic, right? Lauren’s warm, friendly energy just clicks with kids right off the bat. She captured so many great shots, and there wasn’t a meltdown in sight. Hallelujah.

To all my lovely locals looking for family photos, Lauren is offering several “mini-sessions” for the holidays that are $100/15 min, including a CD of images. (Perfect for holiday cards! Or, ahem, plastering all over your blog.) Lauren’s standard sessions are $200/30 min and $300/hour (including CDs).

And! Since Lauren is a total sweetheart, she is offering one of my local readers a free photo session, which will also include a CD of the edited images. If you live in the Southern California area (or are planning to visit within the next year), please leave a comment on this post and you’ll be entered to win. I’ll keep the giveaway open until next Friday, October 28th at 6pm PST. Good luck!

Check out Lauren’s gorgeous portfolio at her website and her Facebook page. Thanks so much for the beautiful photos, Lauren!

The Greatest Raffle of All Time, Methinks

You know I’ve been working with the Huggies Every Little Bottom program, right? (If not, you can catch up here, here and here.) Well, I’ve partnered up with several of my very favorite shops and companies to provide you a super fun raffle of sorts, which will benefit families struggling with diaper need.

Here’s the deal. I want to raise money for the LA Diaper Drive. Lots of money. If you decide to help me out with my cause and donate $5 (LESS than cost of one pack of diapers), you will be entered to win a mighty fine prize pack. What kind of prize pack, you ask? Well, let me show you!

With a donation of $5, you will be entered to win:

One pair of Gap jeans (Up to $90 value)
The Fast, Healthy Beautiful Set from Lock & Mane ($200 value)
A dry shampoo of your choice from DryShampoo.com (Up to $25 value)
One Apple and Bee Foldout Cosmetic Bag ($50 value)
A $75 gift certificate to Pencil Shavings Paper (Have you seen Rachel’s personalized lunch boxes, iPhone covers, and lucite trays? ADORBS.)
A $75 gift certificate to Shop Pretty Mommy (Honest to goodness, the majority of my purchases in 2011 have been from this shop.)

Yep. $500 worth of fantastic products for a $5 donation. And just think – whether you win the prize pack or not, your 5 dollar donation will put clean, dry diapers on a baby who otherwise would be spending the day in a wet diaper, or even worse, one that has been reused several times. (Can you imagine?) 5 dollars, you all. FIVE DOLLARS. Please help me to help families struggling with diaper need.

Rules for the raffle.

In order to be entered to win, please donate $5 dollars here.

You are more than welcome to donate more if you want; every $5 increment will give you another entry. (For example, if you donate $20, you would have 4 entries in the raffle.) After you make your Paypal donation, please leave a comment on this post letting me know. When the raffle ends (October 31, 2011 at 6pm PST), I will randomly choose a winner from the Paypal donations (via random.org), and announce the winner on November 4, 2011.

I hope you will help this wonderful cause, and feel free to spread the word about this raffle. Also, a huge thank you to the wonderful companies and shops who donated goods. I appreciate it so much!

Disclosure: I have partnered with the Huggies® brand to help promote Huggies® Every Little Bottom program. I have been compensated for my time commitment to the program, which includes writing about my family’s own experiences from my son/daughter’s point of view, and/or their experiences with diapers. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.
