Pregnancy

On the Next Episode of Hoarders

February 3, 2010

While helping to empty out her husband’s storage unit, a wife makes the startling realization of just HOW MUCH mid-century furniture, accessories, objects and art he has been “collecting” over the past several years. The perpetrator unloading the third of eleventy million cartloads.

I Need Snacking Ideas STAT.

January 27, 2010

That button is genius, right? Thanks for the nice comments about my belly, by the way. I have to admit my favorite was an incoming link about how good I looked for 19 months pregnant. 19 MONTHS pregnant? Hell, I LOOK FANTASTIC. The belly is definitely popping, which is perfectly coinciding with my incessant need [...]

Adjust-a-Button

January 25, 2010

Calling all pregnant ladies! (OR ladies and gents who might have over-indulged during the holiday season.) Are your jeans feeling a little snug around the waistline? Do you feel like your stomach might explode when you sit down? Um, yeah. I might have that problem right now. Never fear! For I have found the answer. [...]

It’s a Girl!

January 19, 2010

We’re having a little girl! A LITTLE GIRL! Bring on the dresses, tights, pigtails and teenage hormonal rage! As you can see, I couldn’t help myself and bought this darling Imoga cross stitch dress for the little one on Gilt (they have a children’s section, sohelpmegod), but I PROMISE to keep my little girl clothing [...]

He’s All Grown Up

December 2, 2009

This very well could be one of those situations in which only I (The Mother) find a photo to be beyond precious, but WILL YOU LOOK AT MY BABY BOY’S FIRST SCHOOL PHOTO? What’s next? Drivers licenses and bershon? Pass the tissues, please. (He inherited the flip-under-on-one-side/flip-out-on-the-other hair gene from his mother.) Speaking of tissues, [...]

First Trimester Faves

November 30, 2009

Hello! Quite a lengthy break I took there, but trust me, you wouldn’t have wanted to hear the ample amounts of complaining coming out of my pie hole. I’m in the 11th week of of a much queasier pregnancy, although this comes as no surprise to those who follow my Twitter updates. (The benefits of [...]

Tips for Buying a Crib

July 21, 2009

Okay, just ONE tip. If you think, for any reason, that you might have a child that consistently exceeds the 100th percentile for height, do not buy a Stokke Sleepi Crib. Don’t get me wrong – this crib is stylish, modern and unique. We have enjoyed it thoroughly, and recently converted it to a toddler [...]

Ode to Shana Banana

December 1, 2008

I’m sure many of you know Miss Shana of Gorillabuns. If not, you are truly missing out. In honor of Shana’s upcoming addition, several of us have decided to throw Shana a virtual baby shower. I have had the distinct pleasure of knowing Shana way before we started writing blogs. (Which means many drunken and [...]

Performance Art 2007 – Shut Down

April 19, 2007

There will be no von Whoorlie Family Performance Art this year during our annual Spring pilgrimage to Santa Fe. While my father and I might perform the infamous Endless Love duet, my mom and The Magnate might shake a tail feather to some Motown oldies, my sister Lala will not be part of the massive [...]

A Half-Assed Attempt of Whoorlito’s Birth Story

August 21, 2006

August 3, 2006 9:00am – D and I had our third appointment with Maternal Diagnostics to check on my amniotic fluid issues. We were pretty sure we would receive the same news as the prior visits, but for some reason we decided to pack our hospital bags in the car this time. Oooh, the foreshadowing… [...]

The birth story is too daunting at this point.

August 17, 2006

WHOAH. This parenting gig is exhausting. My baby is a tad confused – sleepy angel by day, grunty scared-of-the-dark vampire by night. I totally blame the NICU. S.O.S. – I’m so tired. He never cries, but he loves to stay awake all night and cluster feed. Hence, my boobs are falling off, but for good [...]

Introducing Whoorlito the Super Pooper

August 11, 2006

On his way home from the NICU.

Here We Go

August 3, 2006

We are getting ready to leave for the hospital for my testing. Judging by the fact that we spent a decent amount of time preparing for the induction and packing the hospital bags in the car, I’m pretty sure I WON’T be induced today. I’ll keep you posted.

Just Skirting By

July 31, 2006

I just got back from Maternal Diagnostics where my amniotic fluid had dropped from a 5.86 to 5.73, but still above the dreaded 5.0 induction baseline. Thank goodness- I’m just not ready to be induced yet. The printout did show 4 contractions during the test, though. Oh, and this weekend? The orders to rest and [...]

Master Detective Status Achieved
