You should ask him to lie down and go to sleep. That always works with my daughter when she wakes up for no reason at 2 in the morning.

"Baby, can you lie down and go to sleep?" And then it's like she forgot what she was supposed to be doing. "Oh yeah! Sleep! Thanks daddy. That's why I have you around."

I'm gearing up to start the Southern Vampire series, too, also because I almost cried when I finished devouring the Twilight series over a long weekend.

I second (third? fourth?) the Outlander recommendation. I had a very difficult time getting into the first book, picking it up and putting it down innumerable times, but when I finally plugged through, I was hooked. The fifth book in the series is currently sitting on my bookshelf with the rest of the library goodies picked up recently, and I'm ready for my next Claire & Jamie fix. I was wholly turned off by the idea of A: a historical romance; and B: books involving time-travel. I've never been so happy to be so wrong.

In more fluffier readings, I just finished the third in the Queen of Babble series by Meg Cabot. They're chick-lit, quick reads, nothing especially thought-provoking, but fun.

And Goodreads rocks. It's my new best friend, thanks to the recommendation from a co-worker.

Ha! I'm about to start those Sookie Stackhouse books, too. I'm going through Twilight withdrawal, and my mom got them for me after I mentioned I've been watching True Blood. She's a keeper.

Also? So glad to hear I'm not the only one whose child magically recharges after closing his eyes for all of 12 seconds in the car. WHAT GIVES, BOYS? NAPS ARE REFRESHING, DAMMIT!
