I Might Buy Something Today (+ Instagram Update)

25

1. I’m leaving for New York tomorrow morning. I’ll actually BE in New York for 36 hours. Way too short, if you ask me.

2. I’m filming some spring fashion and beauty segments, and I need to dress appropriately.

3. I’m probably going to buy something today. At J. Crew. Because I CAN’T CONTROL MYSELF.

4. But I’m going to be on film, people! Talking about spring! Shouldn’t this situation give me a No Shopping Challenge pardon or something? I didn’t buy anything new for last week’s style documentary, but this is too much!

5. I’m a loser void of any willpower, aren’t I?

What should I do? Stay strong or muster up something from my closet?

In the meantime, here are my recent photos from the Instagram Photo-a-Day Challenge.

  4. Go for the closet. You can do it!

  5. Dig deep. You might feel amazing about your willpower if you can remodeling stuff you already have. xo

  6. i hate to be the “bad” influence, but i vote for your closet! and um, have a fab trip!!

  7. Closet!! You have lots of beautiful clothing and I’m positive you can put together a lovely outfit.

  8. resist! you have a closet full of gorgeous clothes that i’ve seen you wear on your blog and instagram! you can do it!

  9. Um, I hope everybody doesn’t get mad at me for encouraging you to go shopping, but I’m with you. Life’s too short not to live! I was thinking maybe you could shop today and then tack on an extra day at the end of how long you were going to go without shopping. Like if you were going to end the hiatus on April 1, now you can end on April 2.

  10. ultimate consumer, eh? why not just be happy with what you’ve got.

  11. I, too, vote for your closet full of beautiful clothes. Think how great you’ll feel if you resist the temptation to shoppity shop. You can do that after the moratorium is lifted!

  12. Shop in your closet!! You don’t want to ruin your resolve by hitting up JCrew. Plus, you might impulse buy something you don’t need/want. Stay strong! Have fun in NYC!

  13. Stay strong, Sarah! You can do it! I believe in youuuuuu!

  14. Go for your closet — not because of your challenge, but you don’t want to be filmed in the same outfits we’ve all seen in the catalog. You don’t want the viewers to be able to calculate the cost of your outfit from memory.

You have EXQUISITE taste and gorgeous friends who can lend you things to liven up your closet. YOU CAN DO IT.

  15. (Oh, and um, you may need to borrow rubber-soled boots from someone. It’s freezing, at least in Boston.)

  17. be strong!! you already have a shit ton of clothes.. I’m sure you can find an amazing outfit in what you have. :) and good luck with the whole film thing :D

  18. I say shop in your closet simply because I stopped into J Crew last night and while I did buy a sweater (to wear to work), there really wasn’t anything too lust worthy in the store. But if you do end up caving and purchasing something, please let us know what you ended up getting!

  19. Be strong so I know it’s possible for me too!

  20. Shop in the closet lady! You’ve got a lot to choose from. If you really feel the need to shop, why not buy something and donate to a woman’s shelter or single mom’s group. It would probably make someones year to get a brand new never worn item of clothing from J. Crew.

    closet!

  22. Its truly depressing watching someone who has everything want more when others are in need and expect so little. Perhaps its the fashion/lifestyle blogging persona one must represent, perhaps its regional, perhaps its just an acquiring high. The previous commentator who said donating to a woman’s shelter is brilliant!

  23. Love that you’re doing the Instagram challenge, because I love seeing your lovely photographs daily. (Hope NYC is UH-mazing, even in its brevity!)

  24. GO SHOPPING!!!! You can make up for it later. Get back on track after the trip. Get something great to wear!

  25. Stick with the no shopping challenge. You have plenty of beautiful clothes to choose from, and no one who sees you on TV will know, or care, what you are wearing isn’t brand new. Think of it this way, it’s very European (or at least in Spain where I lived) to own just a few, high quality pieces and wear them over and over. No one bats an eye at wearing the same shirt in one week.
