A Virtual Diaper Drive

4

While I’m planning to work with a local diaper drive in person this fall, I started to wonder why I couldn’t host an online diaper drive to benefit the children in my area right now. The majority of whoorl readers are not from Southern California and far be it for me to deny any and all help from around the country!

So. I decided to set up an Amazon Wish List with tons of different sizes and prices of diapers here. If you are interested in donating diapers to those in need, you can purchase diapers from my wish list and they will be mailed directly to the LA Diaper Drive! All it takes is a click of your mouse and diapers will be on the way to those in need. The LA Diaper Drive provides diapers to low-income families in the Los Angeles area with an emphasis on fostering safe and healthy environments through education. They are an all-volunteer charity that is supported 100% by donations. In addition to relieving financial pressure from the parents, the diapers are often used as incentive to take important life skills classes aimed at improving lives and promoting safe and healthy families.

If you would rather donate money to the LA Diaper Drive, you can mail a check to LA Diaper Drive, PO Box 192, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272 or donate online via credit card or PayPal. The LA Diaper Drive also accepts loose and packaged diapers. To donate diapers, please email contact@diaperdrive.com.

Thanks for any and all help! It means so much to me (and the families in need)!

Disclosure: I have partnered with the Huggies® brand to help promote Huggies® Every Little Bottom program. I have been compensated for my time commitment to the program, which includes writing about my family’s own experiences from my son/daughter’s point of view, and/or their experiences with diapers. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.

  1. bummer that cloth diapers are not accepted in this program. (yes, I read their reasoning). Good Luck, Mama

  2. I love doing diaper drives. While I was reading about the half-open diaper packages, I thought I’d share my two cents- you can call your local women’s shelter, and ask if there were any young mothers with babies in that diaper size. While the shelter cannot accept the opened packages, they often will help you connect with an individual mother who can accept them. The other option is to call your local DCFS (division of child and family services). They often need diapers for babies in transition (while they are in emergent care while waiting for foster placement).
And for those that are interested, http://www.clothdiaperfoundation.org helps provide free cloth diapers to low income families that are interested. They take everything from materials to gently used diapers to new ones and give those to families that qualify and want to use them. Some shelters will even help provide laundry money for parents who cloth diaper.
