4 Things

1. My pink glasses are taking an extended sabbatical, but will be replaced with ones described as “a bold optical form evoking the archetypal sexy librarian image”. Goodness Me! This might not seem like breaking news, but PEOPLE, can we talk about how expensive glasses are these days? Wow.

2. Carson Palmer should feel free to throw for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns this evening. (Did I tell you about the night I saw him at my fave Mexican restaurant? He’s a tall drink of water, that Carson.)

3. Wito has boycotted all naps. For. Ever.

4. I am not feeling the slightest bit guilty about drinking a beer on a Monday afternoon. Yet ANOTHER good reason to live on the West Coast – Monday Night Football at 4:00pm.

  1. Fret not about the lack o’ nap. Avelyn boycotted her nap for a week then got back on track. I blame it on the molars (?). My advice: take Wito out all morning long to play with other kids so he gets worn out. Then feed him a really filling lunch and toss him in the crib and cross your fingers for a 2 hour nap.

  2. That’s one thing I love about living on the West Coast. I’ve never had to watch a game past midnight. Who doesn’t love having a beer at a reasonable hour?

  3. When you go to sleep at 9pm, I guess drinking at 4pm doesn’t sound so unreasonable, no matter where you live. OK, so I don’t go to sleep at 9 … and I also usually don’t drink. Just wanted to make you feel better about your late afternoon apertif!

  4. What’s wito’s teeth situation? have 4 1-year molars yet? If not, I agree with kicky boots. Keep drinking till the strike runs its course.

    Go Beer!

  5. 1. Those are some cute glasses. I could never get away with them.
    2. Damn you, Carson Palmer. (Actually, you were going to kick the shit out of me regardless of his performance tonight. But still.)
    3. That blows. Em blew off her afternoon nap today and I thought I might officially lose my shit. I actually may have done so; the jury’s still out.
    4. Heh. If I started drinking at 4 I would be snoring by 8.

  6. Oh dude, glasses make me want to kill myself. I need a new pair, but part of me is just like, seriously? Do I really feel like spending that much on GLASSES? The clothes I could buy! The shoes! FOR ONE STINKING PAIR OF GLASSES.

  7. I hear you: hearing the MNF jingle makes me all sorts of happy, too. I love Fall.

  8. Yeah, what’s with the glasses scam?

When I went shopping for the last pair, a very gregarious sales guy “helped” me find just the right frames. We narrowed the choices down to two. I kept alternating, trying to decide which pair I liked best.

    Yep. Sure enough.

The Giorgio Armani frames looked better.

    GIORGIO ARMANI FRAMES.

You don’t even want to know.

My friend Kris and I were just discussing this phenomenon over the weekend. How do the frame people manage to make the cheaper frames to look just a little weird on your face? Is there some secret formula?

  9. I’m such a dunce … I thought you meant nappies and not nap-time (I’m a kiwi and we call diaper’s nappies). Doh!!! I was starting to wonder what secret potty training tip you had, then it clicked. LOL. My youngest is just giving up his naps now at two and a half – how will I ever cope?

  10. Oh my God, your pink glasses – LOVE! LOVE SO MUCH. COVET SO MUCH. I love cute colored glasses. Mine look like this, which are cuter in real life. I’m sure your new ones are super hot too, but oh man, A+ for the pinks.

  11. right. so when can we have, like, Glasses Tuesday?

  12. I haven’t gotten glasses in a few years, so I’m about due to go pick out a new pair. Last time I went they dilated my eyes, so I couldn’t even see when I went to pick out my frames. I couldn’t drive home b/c of the not seeing thing so I thought I’d try to pick some out to kill some time. The person there helped me pick out what he thought were the very best pair for my face, and of course they were Burberry and way more than I was planning to spend. But he was right, they do look great.

  13. Carson only had 194 yds and 2 TDs, but still a good start. At least one of the TDs was to Chad Johnson, securing me a win in fantasy football this week!

  14. Glasses Tuesday would rock. I’m hoping for contacts this time, but with as bad as my eyes are, and the astigmatism to boot, I’m not getting my hopes up. I just got an awesome hair cut, so Hair Friday is out for me, but I’ll send in a picture for glasses Tuesday!

  15. Haha, Supa beat me to it — I was totally going suggest Glasses Tuesday or the like. Love the pink glasses. Absolutely adorable. I have an optometrist appointment in a couple of weeks and I’m in the market for new glasses. I have no idea what I want. It’ll be an adventure.

  16. My first pair of glasses were rose-colored. Not the lenses (boy – that would be cliche), just the frames. I got laughed at, because they were big and it was the 80s and I was wearing a plaid dress to match. They were nowhere near your stylish pinks. My 10-year-old self is kind of jealous.

  17. My last pair of glasses were ridiculously expensive, too. And my son has been taking less than 20 minute naps for the past month. I’m going crazy! I too blame teething- but where are the teeth? Mama needs a break.

  18. RE: number 3. I received the following note home when I picked Jonah up from preschool yesterday, “We were wondering if you wanted Jonah to stop napping. He could be moved to be a non napper next if it’s all right with you. Please let us know what you think!”

What I think? I think its amazing you people have been able to get him to nap until he is almost 4. Naps have been boycotted for the last 8 months at home.

At least Wito didn’t actually document his non napper staus.

  19. Whoorl- that cute preggers pic of you reminded me of Lala. How is she and the growing Lalalita/Lalalito?

  20. i’m no help here, celia and moira still nap most days.

but then again, they don’t go to sleep until 10pm.

i’m not sure which is worse, no nap or naps with late bedtimes.

  21. I had blue glasses for a while and loved them.

I wanted red ones in time for BlogHer. But dude, they are not cheap. An thus the black glasses rocked Chicago.
