37 Weeks — The Name Remains a Mystery!

93

*While many of you guessed the middle name correctly, I must say that no one guessed MO’s first name in the comments, on Twitter or in the emails I received. BWAHAHAAAAA, it is a mystery of epic proportions! I HOLD THE POWER.

*My back labor has eased up substantially, which is good and bad. Good? Well, obviously, I feel better. Bad? Why in the hell did I pack my hospital bag? I mean, the baby is Never Going to ARRIIIIIIIIIVE. Let’s all feel sorry for me right now.

*We had a 37-week ultrasound yesterday and for a brief, fleeting moment, MO pulled her hands out of her mouth to show us her little profile. Wito was in the room with us and yelled, “It’s the Baby Bean show!!” (We also call her Baby Bean around the house. Whoorlita, MO, Baby Bean…we welcome confusion.) Here she is:

Annnnnd, hands back in mouth.

*I am having these massive energy spurts at 11pm while everyone else snoozes in our dark house. Last night, I poked around Wito’s room for a good 15 minutes while he slept until I realized I was being sort of creepy.

*We are in the thick of June Gloom out here, which is only making my antsy mood worse. Can’t sleep! Baby will never come! Restless legs! The world is ending!

Tell me something good. I am seriously funkafied right now.

Too bad it’s not Molly – I like my name, even though I often hear that people have named their pets (dogs, cats, birds, and once, a donkey) Molly.

  3. Is it Mazzy? That’s my daughter’s name and a hard one to guess :)
    congrats on the new baby!

  5. haha your posts always make me laugh. I’ve been getting weird energy spurts around 11 too…Hmmm… I don’t think it means I’m 37 weeks preggers though.

  6. Oh and is there any chance that her name is actually Mo? Just checkin.

    Something good, something good…ok!

If that is a picture of your belly at 37 weeks, you are TINY. I was that big at like 30 weeks. And is that a wedding band? Again, TINY.

    Maisy? Marleigh? Melba?

  9. Maeve, Maven, Makena, Mara

This mystery is keeping me up at night and I don’t have a kid’s room to creep around in!!

    (her) Majesty???

Can’t wait for the big reveal. Did you get your Toms yet??

I went to a sweeeet jewelry showing on Sunday and am giving a piece away tomorrow. Would look great on you. Just sayin. Her Majesty might want it in a few years too…:)

I did get my TOMS and they are cuter than EVER!!

  10. I can’t wait for the big reveal. I want to know her name!

I can’t help you on the defunkifying though, sadly, as I am in a rather funky place myself (the bad kind).

I’m sorry, Sizz. :( I wish we could hang out and defunkify together.

  11. I had a dream that you named her Sage. And it just felt right. Clearly that doesn’t start with an M.

My grandmother’s middle name is Olivette. I’m hoping you went with Olivia. Or Owen.

    Matilda Owen James

I think it has a nice ring to it.

  12. I’m going to guess Myrna for a first name. Or maybe Maura. Or Moira. Or Mamie. Or Maeve. Or Maren. Or Mael. Okay, I’m stopping now. There are so many good M names!

  13. Cannot wait! She will be darling! How about Linda jr.? Love to you, Helen Ford Wallace

  14. Ok so after going back and reading all the comments on the other post I can see that my pick is not correct. That’s fine. I’ll just tuck that name away for someone else.

There were a lot of M names mentioned. Hard to think of one that wasn’t.

Michael? But maybe spelled Mykel or something like that.

I’m sure whatever it is, it’s lovely.

  15. I’m going to go ahead and guess my own unusual name: Mylène, pronounced like this: http://tinyurl.com/cuh4zw

  16. Kristin says:

I totally stalked the last post to see what M names had been guessed. It must be an awesome name if it’s even better than the ones mentioned! Can’t wait to hear what it is!

  17. Monica! Has this been guessed already?

  18. Lindsay says:

To match with Anders’ Scandi name heritage…Marit? I adore the name – and its meaning of “pearl” – and can totally see it on your lil’ one. It’s on my short list!

  19. Aha! I was wondering why you were making moves on Words With Friends around midnight. Mystery solved!

  21. So…something good? Well! I’m trying out for…(wait for it) ROLLER DERBY. I’m sort of crapping my pants over here. In an awesome way.

I’m hereby sharing all of my girly M names (from my ridiculous list of 17! girl names), just for fun, and maybe just in case I totally win the prize (there is a prize, right? RIGHT?) of guessing your Baby Bean’s name.

Mallory (which I already shared in the last post, I think)
    Michael
    Meggan
    Mae
    Margot
    Marina (Mena)

    I love! talking about names.

(“It’s the Baby Bean show!” might be the cutest thing ever, by the way.)

  43. This name guessing thing is driving me crazy…I found myself thinking of “M” names all day!

I am going with Margot/Margaux/Margeaux as well. Very classy.

Or did someone guess Margit already?

AHH! Put us out of our misery already!

  44. I went to grade school with a girl named Maybelline, so I’m going to guess that.

    I AM RIGHT, AREN’T I?

  45. Michelle says:

Defunk? Okay, I’m exactly as pregnant as you – with a girl – and she is NEVER going to arrive. She seems quite content in there. I haven’t even packed a bag. Denial is a wonderful place.

That didn’t help? Okay I’m twice your size. You’re the teenist tiniest 37w pregnant lady EVER. Your shirt fits. Mine doesn’t. My husband’s don’t. And your hair is fabulous! (That’s my favorite compliment ever.)

    missy?
    mindy?
    melinda?
    mackie?
    monday?
    may?

  51. I was seeing if you updated on the guesses… And I got to think of initials if your daughter marries someone with a last name beginning with O her initials would be MOJO assuming she hyphenates her last name. How cool would those initials be?

No one has guessed yet! (And also, James is my maiden name so not the kids’ last name. Her initials will be MOD. Which is pretty cool, yes?)

  61. Oh the restless legs from hell. Well, I won’t tell you what everyone else was telling me for the past few weeks: to sleep while you can (ha!) and that life is harder with a baby than being pregnant (all relative, friends. It’s all relative.) But I will tell you that the end is soon! Even if it doesn’t seem like it. She will be here before you know it!

  62. Kristyn says:

    Mary…Mary Olive
    possibly Miriam
    maybe Meike

  63. Jessica says:

I’m going to guess Marguerite for Whoolita’s name because it’s my grandma and my daughter’s name and I clearly like it.

  64. trying to guess the name is making me crazy!

if we have another boy he will most likely be Anders so I love your taste in names – I’m hoping the girl’s name is just as lovely!

my guesses would be Marit, Marijke, Malin, Mireille, Miriam, Mila.

can you at least tell us if it’s a legit name or if it’s something new and modern and possibly made-up? that would make the guessing a lot easier on my (name-nerd) part.

It is a legit name – I promise I didn’t string random letters together in an attempt to create a name. ;) However, it’s obviously very rare.

  65. Something good? Well, (in an effort to make lemonade) I got maybe the third worst haircut I’ve ever had (ever being since I moved out and started paying for my own haircuts) on Saturday. I had a little chin length bob and wanted some highlights for summer and some shorter pieces around the face. However, my regular stylist is going back to beauty school and so busy that I just booked a quick appt with a girl at the local quick cut type of place that gave me a good trim a few months back.

Wow… The shorter pieces ended up being a weird single layer that hit halfway between the crown of my head and the ends of my hair so she added a little more layering. She also really really gave me a lot of really blonde highlights. Now the few caramelly ones I asked for.

The good? I’ve figured out two ways to wear my hair so far that don’t make it look like I’ve run my head under a lawnmower. Neither of those involve a hat, although with hair this short, that’s not a good idea either. I’m taking Vitamin E supplements in an effort to make my hair grow faster. I’m thinking of fessing up to my regular stylist that I cheated on her to see if she can fit me in for a quickie fix.

I’m posting photos on my blog later, it should give you a laugh….

  66. Miller, Monroe, Miles, Mallory….

  67. AJoanna says:

It doesn’t matter what you name the sweet child, to me she will always be Mo. :P
    Um…
    Marcelle/Marcella
    Magdalene
    Marjorie
    Meridith

  68. I can’t wait to hear her name! My guesses are Misha, Maya and Mia, Marie, Marianna, Melissa.

  69. I have one more: Montserrat.

  70. Ack, still no correct guesses? Hmm… Mika, Myra, Merrick, Mirielle, Macon, Marlen, Marise, Mattea, Myla, Morena, Maclaine. I can’t wait to hear what it is!

  71. Is it Meegan? Because that’s my name and I don’t believe anyone has yet guessed it. If it isn’t, you could just change it to Meegan and no one would be the wiser. Because, really, isn’t it a great name? Em, long eee, g-a-n. Meegan. Like Megan, but fresher and cooler. I’m just sayin’.

  72. Marta Magda Morgan Mathilda?

  76. Ok, so this has gotten so out of control I just HAD to join in. I have two guesses; one traditional and one uncommon: Marilyn or Minka?

I Can’t wait to find out! Hoping the rest of your pregnancy is wonderful!

  77. My daughter’s name is Mary Olivia. I loved it when we picked it and I still think it’s a great name. Mary is such a common name, but no one really uses it anymore. Truth be told, we’re really not that adventurous when it comes to names. My son’s name is Sam. Enjoy the last couple weeks of your pregnancy.
