That button is genius, right? Thanks for the nice comments about my belly, by the way. I have to admit my favorite was an incoming link about how good I looked for 19 months pregnant. 19 MONTHS pregnant? Hell, I LOOK FANTASTIC.
The belly is definitely popping, which is perfectly coinciding with my incessant need to graze like a cow all day long. Speaking of…
(SEGUE!)
I love to prep. I love to cook. I love to eat. I HATE TO PLAN MY MEALS.
I’ve talked about this before, and how the Relish System totally saved my ass in the kitchen. Seriously, you guys. I’ve been consistently using their menus and grocery lists on a weekly basis for almost 2 years. 2 years! That right there is true love in my books, for the last time I showed that level and length of commitment was to my Duran Duran poster (MARRY ME, NICK RHODES!!!) from 1982 to 1984.
(Hey! If you also suffer from Can’tPlanDinneritis and want to join Relish, be sure and enter whoorl in the “how you heard of us” section so they know I sent you!)
Back to the planning thing. Although I have my dinners beautifully covered on a weekly basis, I am still falling short on planning/purchasing items for other meals, such as snacks. Seeing as I feel the need to eat a little something, oh, about every 26 minutes, I am at a loss as to what I should buy for healthy snacks in between meals. Right now, I am eating more baby carrots and radishes than you can shake a stick at. I am turning a lovely shade of rosy orange, though!
What are some of your favorite moderately healthy snacks to keep around the house? Help me! DO IT FOR THE BABY.

I often have some homemade hummus around the house and eat it with things like carrot or celery sticks and rice crackers.

almonds, cottage cheese, baby carrots, oranges, stretch island (or trader joes) fruit leathers, banana with peanut butter– all of these were my go to pregnancy snacks! I liked snacking more than big meals since the bigger meals made me feel horrible!
Since you’re eating carrots already, add hummus. MMMMM.
Peanut butter with apples.
Trail mix.
Dried apricots.
All of my go-so snacks when I was pregnant and our kid is perfect so, you know. These must have helped :-)

Hummus and Trader Joe’s Pita Bites Crackers are my new snack go-to. I’m not pregnant or anything. Just like to snack.
.-= Christen´s last blog ..Sketchy Dudes =-.
Edamame was one of my standbys, also apples and PB, celery and PB (I ate a lot of PB when I was preggers. I ate a lot of everything when I was preggers.)
Apples + peanut butter. Pita chips + hummus. French fries.
WHAT? Scratch that last one. Sorry. Am hungry.

Raw Almonds – mmmm my fave
At the beginning of each day, cut an apple into slices and put in a sandwich bag in the fridge – you can grab it any time.
100 calorie packs of any savory snack
Yogurt
make up some chicken salad, put in container, put some on crackers anytime you feel like it
premake PB&J, cut into 4 pieces and put in plastic bag in fridge
Thats all I can think of right now.
btw – your tummy looks super cute!

popcorn, clementines (yum), fruit popsicles, pretzels (boring but filling), I am a fruitaholic so any fruit is good in my book – and frozen grapes – delish! watermelon!
.-= shannon´s last blog ..Back to School =-.
Low-fat mozza cheese strings, sugar snap peas. And chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. :)

Waffle Fries are healthy right?
Fiber One bars. I swear there is no better way to get daily fiber. I’ve yet to find a flavor I didn’t like.
Grapes.
And apparently The Biggest Loser seems to think that chewing Extra gum helps. I think they are full of shit.
.-= Carrisa´s last blog ..you asked for it =-.
My current fave is dried Bing cherries from Trader Joe’s with a tiny little piece of aged gouda (also from Trader Joe’s.) You don’t need much of the cheese and the protein keeps you full. Am also a big fan of those little red Babybel cheeses (I need my cheese to be portion-controlled or I eat THE WHOLE THING), often with a couple of low-fat triscuits and maybe a dash of fig jam. Am sometimes partial to putting a dab of cream cheese on a piece of ham and rolling the whole thing up. Also, if you can get to Whole Foods, they have these INSANELY GOOD granola bars there that aren’t like granola bars at all, they’re like heaven. They’re called Carman’s and they’re from Australia: yummy rolled oats, nice and chewy, not like normal granola bars at all. LOVE.
I like the 100 calorie smart pop popcorn packs…
We keep a large gladware of cut veggies on the counter AT ALL TIMES these days. Radishes, carrots, pearl tomatoes and the dreaded celery.
Also. I heart greek yogurt with (lots of) honey and granola and maybe even some fruit. I’ve gotten truly lazy and now just have a open bag of Trader Joes berries in the fridge.
Ham and Swiss roll-ups (no bread or nasty lettuce)
Trail mix (though I feel guilty every time I eat a nut)
Yeah, that’s about it. And now I need another snack.

I am 18 weeks pregnant w/ my 2nd and my belly is muuuuuuuch larger than yours – maybe due to my snacking or my abdominal muscles giving up on life!
I always have yogurts, crackers and cheese and fruit on hand for snacking. But I also think a small bowl of cereal is a great snack too.

I like to throw together my own trail mix that way I can control the amount of the bad stuff (dark chocolate chips in my case) mixed with the better (dried cherries, blueberries or golden raisins) and nuts (raw almonds or cashews) I am eating. I know it is not a low calorie snack, but in your case it surely doesn’t matter! I also always have bags of edamame on hand and even sometimes like to make a hummus like dip out of it to mix things up. Popcorn is another favorite around here and instead of using the microwave kind we put 1/4 of kernels mixed with a little bit of olive oil and salt in a paper lunch sack that has been stapled shut in the microwave for about 2 minutes and you have the perfect personal sized portion.
Apparently I really like to snack….

My favorite quick healthy snacks are grapes, satsumas/cuties, string cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, applesauce, almonds, pistachios, granola bars (there are some good homemade recipes for these), guacamole (homemade or Trader Joe’s) or salsa (either homemade or I like Salsa Lisa) with cucumber slices as chips – or with chips, depending on my mood.
I also really like the VitaTops the Hungry Girl is always raving about – that’s usually what I’ll stick in my purse for a snack. That or a granola bar.
I have just fallen in love with homemade strawberry banana smoothies. And I don’t usually have much luck in the kitchen but these smoothies are idiot proof and healthy. I use a Fage yogurt which when eaten plain to me is not that great but in te smoothie it us fab and supplies you with 15 grams of protein. So here’s what you do and if you make the whole recipe you can put te left over in the fridge and snack on it all day.
1 cup yogurt
2 cups fresh strawberries halved
1 cup of pomengrante juice
1 banana
1 cup frozen raspberries and/or frozen bluberries.
Mix on food process for 20 to 30 seconds.
Sorry so long but so worth it!!!
Sadie at heymamas
Hummus on just about any cracker or vegetable for sure. I also used to grab those mint chocolate chip Pria bars – the only protein bar I ever liked.
And MAN I so wish we had a Trader’s Joe’s. I covet them.
Sorry for any typos…on his goddamn iPhone!!
Hate typing on it.

Snacks, my favorite subject. I’m with pammer on the hummus. I have a great recipe for the one from California Pizza Kitchen if you want to make it yourself. Eat it with whole wheat pita or pre-cut veggies. My favorite snack at the moment is tart green apples dipped in peanut butter with a drizzle of chocolate syrup. I ate tons of Wasa crackers with Boars Head ovengold turkey while prego. Weight Watchers fudge bars are great for a treat. Oh and popcorn in the individually sized bags are a yummy fiber-filled snack.
Wondering what satsumas/cuties are that Amy mentioned?
Well look what just showed up in my reader…

My favorite snack is a dip make of three parts peanut butter and four parts vanilla yogurt. Then slice up a great, tart apple and dip away!

I love the cocoa dusted almonds that come in individual-sized packs or non-individual-sized packs for more optimal snacking.

I love a good honeycrisp apple. Shelled pistachios. Also, Wasa crackers w/hummus or garlic Laughing Cow Cheese (you can have soft cheeses if they’re pasteurized, right?). Hmm, what else? Edamame with bacon-flavored sea salt on it (yumtown, hot or cold), and you know what else sounds good right now? Those caramel-flavored mini rice cakes. Oh so cliche, but tasty!

I’ve reached the all hungry, all the time point of this pregnancy, so I know of which I speak.
For me, it’s fruit. Well, it’s either that or the all cookie diet, but fruit seems to be working. We buy a TON of it, then I come home and cut it up and separate into containers so it’s ready to go at a moment’s notice.
Also, pretty much anything in the Trader Joe’s snack aisle – even though we’re quickly veering out of the healthy territory.

I’ve always got a bag of half dry roasted almonds / half dried blueberries on my desk (both from the TJ’s nut aisle), TJ’s has whole wheat preztel sticks (eaten w/ or w/o peanut butter), CLEMENTINES (I never cared for them until I got pregnant. Now I’m on my third crate in as many weeks) and apples.

Chocolate!
Oh, you said healthy. I go with some simple nuts or grapes.
.-= C @ Kid Things´s last blog ..On the Internet =-.
Edamame
String Cheese
Celery with Lauging Cow Cheese
Almonds with dried fruit (blueberries, cherries, cranberries, etc.)
Congrats on your pregnancy!
I’m 19 weeks & starving too. I could not live without a stash of Clif Kids organic Z bars (got a CASE of the chocolate brownie ones for Christmas from my husband).
Apples+peanut butter, too.
We make our own hummus (with either pesto or sundried tomatoes) & I eat that with wasa crispbread or okmok.
I have also been known to microwave 1/2 a sweet potato & snarf it down. And I’ve been a fool for cinnamon toast & Organic Valley chocolate milk (not together) this entire pregnancy.
go raw super chips. Crunchy sweet, good for you..totally addictive. Pricey but the baby will thank you. Avail at Whole Foods. FYI…this comes from a total non-raw food girl…I store them next to my Oreos.
Laughing cow on anything, Veggie Booty and smooooooothies!!
I’m 16 weeks, now, and I’ve been mostly living off of mangoes, oranges, buttered toast, and triscuits with any type of cheese.
On the not so healthy side of it we have the handfuls of olives and the Trader Joe’s chocolate lava cakes (oh. my. GOD.).
I’m out of the puking stage, but food and I have a very tenuous relationship, so it’s not always easy to find healthy snacks that will agree with me.

When I was pregnant a snack mix of mixed nuts (minus walnuts), dried cranberries, and m&ms was my lifesaver.
I have Think Thin bars, trail mix, cheese sticks and rice crackers on hand at all times. And I’m not even pregnant!

Let’s see…almonds, extra sharp cheddar, dehydrated vegetable (sweet potato, beets, green beans), apple sauce, pretzel squares with chocolate chips, dried mango (OMG!), homemade trail mix, granola, dried cherries with coconut flakes, kimchi, sweet pickles, yogurt with honey, banana/orange smoothies, baby food pears (really!), apples with peanut butter or cinnamon…
almonds, pecans, raisins, dried cherries. CHEESE.
apple slices! (as is, with cinnamon, peanut butter, cheese)
cherry tomatoes, celery sticks, grapefruits, avocados.
ciao bella sorbet (as a special treat)
now i need a snack…
.-= beyond´s last blog ..eggnog & trees =-.
string cheese, apples, luna bars, popcorn…and sour patch kids–what, they’re fat free!
Sahale Snacks…flavorful, crunchy, a little sweet, a little savory. And you can find them in your local Starbucks.
leftover roasted sweet potatoes, greek yogurt with almond slices, rice cakes with almond butter, cinnamon toast with apple butter, bananas with justin’s almond butter packs.
I have an apple slicer that cores and slices in one motion, so i use that to keep apple slices on hand as well as small baggies of almonds.
.-= Haley´s last blog ..Pardon me, I forgot the shoes =-.
I agree with everyone who said hummus! I like the roasted garlic kind, with slices of wheat bread or baby carrots. Also, sunbutter is delicious! It’s like peanut butter, but made from sunflower seeds, it’s really really good with crackers and apples!
Edamame is the new popcorn, yo.

I have been super hungry as I start my third trimester…and so bored with my snacks too. So happy you posted this!
My go to snacks have been oatmeal squares cereal (dry, just to munch on, and my 1.5 year old loves to snack on them too), hummus and carrots, yogurt with granola, protein bars, and ahem, boston cream donuts from Dunkin’s.

Sorry about the week/month slip – my bad !
Fixed it now :*)
I like nuts, granola, trail mix type of things; also some of my kids’ snacks like string cheese and animal crackers fit the bill nicely. Now I’m hungry all the sudden…
