We’re having a little girl! A LITTLE GIRL! Bring on the dresses, tights, pigtails and teenage hormonal rage! As you can see, I couldn’t help myself and bought this darling Imoga cross stitch dress for the little one on Gilt (they have a children’s section, sohelpmegod), but I PROMISE to keep my little girl clothing expenditures in check.
(HAHAHAAAAAAAAA. Ha.)
We are so incredibly thrilled to be given the chance to raise both a boy and a girl, and when we told Wito the exciting news, he clasped his hands together and exclaimed, “Oh, a girl! I’ve always wanted something soft to sleep with!” Cue heart explosion. He is going to be such a wonderful big brother.
Oh! And! We got the house and will be moving in three weeks. Hooray! There is much to do before we move in, so the remainder of January will be a bit crazy. D is spending his evenings and weekends at the new place, and it is going to be a race against time to get our changes complete before moving day. I’ve been trying to document the renovations with photos, though, so hopefully I can post some of the small improvements we are making to bring this 60s modern back to her original glory.
In the meantime, please feel free to bestow upon me your best baby girl-rearing advice. We’ve been solely about the penis ’round here for the past three years, so any and all advice is welcome!

Congratulations! There is no doubt that your daughter will be stunning, and so much fun! I have two boys, so my advice for girls is nil. Also, the house you found sounds amazing, hoping you have a chance to post some pictures.
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy!

(Wo) Man alive…SO excited for your three. And selfishly for the amount of awesome coming the way of the internets. Let the girliest adventures begin!
PS Per the other awesome project…I can’t wait to see the 60′s Reno shots. Further my MCM addiction at will.
Well! That is AWESOME news. Congratulations!

Congratulations! Think about all of the great hair styles you will be able to do AND the wisdom you will be able to pass down to another generation.

Congrats! We are happily raising two girls over here and the best bit of advice I can give is for D: Tell her over and over and over again how beautiful she is. Yes, she’s going to be beautiful on the inside and praise that too. But we were utterly shocked to find out how early our daughters wanted their Dad’s approval about their appearance. My husband does such a great job at this. He notices little details about their hair and outfits and you can tell it means a lot to the girls. He also buys them flowers and takes them out for special Daddy/daughter dates. The women I know in real life who are the most confident are the ones who had a great relationship with their Daddy. We figure that if our daughter grows up hearing that she is beautiful and is being treated as such, she is going to be less likely to put out for the first loser that hands her a wilted carnation and tells her she’s kinda cute.
Woo Hoo!!!!
I’m with you – had a boy first, girl second. I originally (pre-kids) would have wanted the reverse, but this is A-OK, too. I fully expect to see my daughter’s friends wanting to date her brother and my son’s friends wanting to date my daughter. And then I will fall over dead.
Girls are different from boys (duh), but I tell myself daily to just go with the flow. I’m sure you’ll do this beautifully. Congratulations.

Congrats!! Wito=ADORABLE!!
And I don’t think I would be able to contain the girly shopping if my next one was a girl. So I say go forth and SHOP :)
Oh, and selfishly I’m really glad you’re having a girl. Maybe you will start including some stuff on Hair Thursday about how to do little girl’s hair.
If so, my daughter is first in line. :) Her hair is so different from mine and I really struggle with how to cut and style it. And then to add all those pretty bows and braids, ugh!
Yay! Girls are fun. And they have the BEST clothes.

Congrats! If I had a girl, I’d go broke with the wardrobe options! Start saving up!

Congrats! So exciting, and fun!
LOVE the dress. No girl raising advice as mine is still a fetus. I do expect many future shopping posts so I can glean inspiration from you.

HURRAY! I can’t wait to hear what amazing name you give her. You guys are good at that sort of thing.
Yay, congratulations!!
No advice, as I have to crack the windows at my house for all the testosterone of living with 3 males. But I’m glad to hear everything is going smoothly with your pregnancy. As for the adorable dress… you’re the mother of a boy, I’m sure you’ve already lamented the fact that girls’ clothing racks outnumber boys’ clothing racks by AT LEAST three to one, so why not go ahead and have fun? :)

Congratulations! Having one of each has been such a joy for us this past year. I’ll warn you though, you might not have to wait for the teen years for the hormonal rage, Lu does a pretty good job at only 14 months.
Happy shopping!
YIPPEE!!! glad to hear you won’t be the ONLY woman in a house with 3 men! Now it’s nice and even. I have no children, and not much advice, but if she’s half as cute as Wito, WATCH OUT!

oh man.
you won’t believe how easy potty training is.
sna-ap.
also the wiping front to back thing is a good one.
I have no advice. But I literally squeeed with glee upon reading merely the title of your post… I had my boys(the triplets) first, and then I had my girls (the twins) last. I am super glad that the girls have big brothers, and for me I’m glad I got to do the girly thing…B/c man was blue grating on me. :)
YAY YOU!
Since she’s a girl and not a puppy, I have no advice, but I’m so thrilled for you and your family!
I’ve got a girl, and I got nothin’. Other than poop shrapnel is miserable in vaginas, because it gets stuck in EVERYTHING in there. All those CREVICES.
Congratulations on the official confirmation! Whoo!
Congratulations!!! I’m sure Wito will be such a sweet big brother, and I’m more than a little excited to see all of the cute girly things you will find for her. Budget be darned, little girl stuff is just too cute to pass up!
I don’t have babies yet so no advice, except to say Pamela Wright’s advice above is absolutely spot on! My dad still buys me flowers whenever I visit my folks, and it still means the world to me.

Oh my god! Congratulations! I am already jealous of your daughter to be: She has a mom that is so good at all things “girlie”!
First of all, OFFICIAL CONGRATULATIONS, even though I MAY have already congratulated you once before. (Is there such a thing as too many happy wishes of joy? NO THERE IS NOT.)
So, my advice.
I spent SO. MUCH. MONEY on little sweet dresses and then… they were awful to deal with until she started walking. Dresses are so cute on the hanger! But then you have to put a baby wearing a dress into a car seat and… it just bunches and wrinkles and GAH. And a baby CRAWLING in a dress… it just makes the whole thing impossible. If I could tell myself one thing, it would be to buy a few dresses in infant sizes (because WHO CAN RESIST THEM ALL) but to be prepared to not be able to really go nutso until she’s big enough to walk and model them correctly.
The end.
(SO SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!)
I’m beyond thrilled for you all! xoxo

Congratulations, there’s a reason there is a song titled, “Thank Heaven for Little Girls.” I have no advice, just get ready for the fun times-dollies, dress up, painting toenails, and little girls in ballet outfits are the cutestthingohmyGod!!!
.-= elz´s last blog ..Bad Influence =-.
Congratulations! Girls are so much fun, although in my limited parenting experience thus far, I find them, umm, a bit more challenging than their brothers, but who knows. Maybe it’s just my little girl?
Who cares, though, the tights make it all worth while. Also, the little mary janes. Sigh.
tears.. tears… tears…
soooo excited for you!!!! harper will have some lovely goodies to pass on to her!!!
and my god she will be gorgeous!!!!
can’t wait to meet her
xoxoxoxo
YES!! You’re going to love it. We have a nearly three year old boy and now a seven month old girl. It took us a while to get excited about having a girl because we were so enamored with having a boy – but we knew we were being silly! Little girls are fun and big brothers rock! The dress tip is a good one – carseats and crawling do make them difficult. I would say get ready to have to organize and store more types of clothing/accessories. In addition to onsies, pants, socks & shoes – you’ve got tights/leg warmers, hairbands/bows, way more hats, and those little frilly underpants that people love to give for under dresses – I’ve got about 15 pairs!! So drawer dividers and closet organization is key. Congrats again!! I can’t wait to see her!!
How exciting! I’m thrilled for both of you. Wito’s response could not be any cuter! :)
I look forward to seeing photos of the new place and the changes you’ll be making!
yay! This is such nice news!
Girls are fantastic. They are totally worth all the emotional drainage. heh.

I just came across your blog randomly, but wanted to add my congrats. We have a three year old son and a one year old daughter and feel SOOOO lucky to experience both a son and a daughter. Wishing you and your family the best!
I grew up as one of two girls, the only piece of advice I have for you is this: When the kids get older, make sure any shared bathroom has a double vanity. Two sinks = crucial to your survival as a parent of 1, 3, or 15 girls.

Oh, congrats!! I will chime in as the grateful mother of a boy and a girl. While I would never say “it’s better,” I will say that watching the differences between these two children…both in gender and in temperament…adds a dimension to parenting I never could have expected.
So, so happy for you!

Congrats on your news! I thank God every day for my two beautiful girls and don’t know how I would move through this world without them. I look forward to everything about them growing up and the things we will be able to share, manicures, spa visits, shoe shopping trips, makeup tips….oh the possibilities are endless.
BUT, girls are way more sticky to handle than boys so get your patience on because you will be dealing with every emotion under the sun.
Girls actually care about what they are wearing so enjoy picking the outfits for as long as you can, because before you know it, no matter how fashionable and hip you are they will think you are the biggest dork who doesn’t know how to dress….except for sometimes.
Sincere congratulations. You are truly blessed.

OH! So very exciting!
As the Mom of both a boy and a girl – I LOVE it! I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Congrats.
Oh my goodness! Congrats!
I’m just not sure where to start with this one. Cogratulations is guess would be the natural place. Love the dress. You will have endless fun dressing your little darling. I have a 21 month year old girl and she is a constant joy. I also have a 16 year old step daughter. She’s just now coming out the other end of the hormonal rage stage. I see a light at the end of the tunnel but cannot imagine my own little redhead from the ages of 13-15. God help me.
