It’s a Girl!

We’re having a little girl! A LITTLE GIRL! Bring on the dresses, tights, pigtails and teenage hormonal rage! As you can see, I couldn’t help myself and bought this darling Imoga cross stitch dress for the little one on Gilt (they have a children’s section, sohelpmegod), but I PROMISE to keep my little girl clothing expenditures in check.

(HAHAHAAAAAAAAA. Ha.)

We are so incredibly thrilled to be given the chance to raise both a boy and a girl, and when we told Wito the exciting news, he clasped his hands together and exclaimed, “Oh, a girl! I’ve always wanted something soft to sleep with!” Cue heart explosion. He is going to be such a wonderful big brother.

Oh! And! We got the house and will be moving in three weeks. Hooray! There is much to do before we move in, so the remainder of January will be a bit crazy. D is spending his evenings and weekends at the new place, and it is going to be a race against time to get our changes complete before moving day. I’ve been trying to document the renovations with photos, though, so hopefully I can post some of the small improvements we are making to bring this 60s modern back to her original glory.

In the meantime, please feel free to bestow upon me your best baby girl-rearing advice. We’ve been solely about the penis ’round here for the past three years, so any and all advice is welcome!

    What happy, happy news!
My children are now in their 20s, a girl and a boy.
    My advice?
Enjoy the clothes. And the wee shoes. And the tiny jackets and the clever hats and…
    sniff…
those days and years that race by. The ones where you get to choose the outfits.
Good luck with the move. I enjoy reading your blog for your fresh style.

What a perfect pair your Wito and Wita? will make. Maybe she should be Whoorlita instead.

As a mother of 3 boys, we’re all about the penis at my house. Sorry, no advice. I don’t think you’ll have any problems with all things girlie.

    Congratulations!!!

Congratulations! I’m a lurker who’s been following your blog regularly since you were pregnant with Wito. Girls are fab and I speak from experience having 3 of my own from 18 to 4 yrs old. Totally agree with “Sadie at heymamas” ~ brace yourself for the emotional roller coaster and dress ‘em while you can because at about age 3 when the independence kicks in you will have no say-so anymore. Forget about a budget ~ impossible. BUT, don’t spend good money on dress shoes… they wear ‘em once and grow out of them. Go to Target. Oh, and even though they are tacky and ugly, every little girl needs a pair of sparkle shoes… the look on her face when she has those on her feet is worth EVERY fashion violation!

This is sort of gross, but necessary, advice – remember to wipe front to back when changing the diaper. I have a 4 year old daughter, a 2 year old son, and another daughter who is 4 months old and it’s been a challenge to remember that with her. You don’t really have to pay attention to that with a boy, but the girls can get an infection. Congrats on the house!

A wee late on this…but CONGRATS….man you better pray for a head of hair fast. There is nothing like a mop of hair to complete those amazing outfits and tights she will be sporting. I don’t think you need advice, you are going to do great. Can’t wait to see what nickname you give her to compliment Wito’s.
