Questions

1. I’m starting a Blunt Bangs Brigade. (That sounds a little porny, doesn’t it?) I’m inducting Metalia and Kristen as my first two members. Against their will, most likely.

blba

Wanna join? You need to have blunt bangs and a missing body.

2. I have a cold. I caught it from Wito, who caught it at a children’s museum. See what you get for trying to educate your children in a fun, hands-on environment? I’m sorry, but next week it’s Goldfish crackers and Chutes and Ladders in our germ-free living room, kid. Mama’s a little bitter.

3. Remember when y’all suggested the Sookie Stackhouse series to me? I read a few, but was feeling a little neutral. Well, I just started watching True Blood last night. (We don’t have HBO, so I’m watching the episdoes online. I CAN’T STOP. I’m staying up past my bedtime (10 p.m – shut up), already dreaming about vampires and I’m only through Season 1, Episode 3.)

(Sooookie.)

4. I would like to retract my previous statement that my favorite Jelly Belly flavor is Green Apple. Please excuse me, I was misinformed. My favorite flavor is Sour Cherry. What’s your favorite flavor again? Are you in that crazy Juicy Pear majority?

5. I need a good book to read, and no, I don’t want to visit Goodreads. (Nothing against Goodreads, I’m just WAY too lazy to weed through all of the suggestions. In fact, if I possessed an iota of intelligence, I would re-read the other suggestions from the above post, but, well, I’m sick.) You know what I like, right? Please tell me what to read. Did I mention I was sick? Have mercy.

6. I will gladly accept any book suggestions except for any of the Backyardigans books, especially Mission to Mars and Pirate Treasure. WE HAVE THOSE COVERED OVER HERE, THANK YOU.

7. My second post about potty training is up. Can any of you relate to this biznass?

7. Could my son’s haircut tomorrow afternoon arrive any sooner?

hair

Well, would you look at that? Reading Mission to Mars AGAIN.

Please feel free to answer one, many or absolutely none of these questions.

My husband and I just did the same thing you are doing with True Blood (which I watch as well) but with Friday Night Lights. For like 2 weeks, it was all I wanted to do. I stayed up waaay past my bedtime (which is also 10 PM) to watch episode after episode online.

I think I have an issue b/c I have a huge crush on a high school guy in the show – thank God in real life he is only like 8 years younger than me. Can’t go to jail for that.

The Blood of Flowers by Anita Amirrezvani was a great book. It gives you a glimpse into a different culture, a different time. I could not put this book down. Also, The 19th Wife byt David Ebershoff was a page turner about Brigham Young’s 19th wife.

I’m loving all the book suggestions here. I need something new to read, other than People and US of course.

    Feel better soon!

Where can you see the True Blood episodes online? I have read the first 8 Sookie books (I’m waiting for #9 in paperback) and have heard great things about the show. However, I don’t have HBO either. What service/website can I see the episodes on? Any info is greatly appreciated!

I have to agree with Sally…I LOVED the Post-Birthday World (but, for fair-disclosure, no one else in my book club did).

Since moving to London, my usually curly hair has refused to curl (I think it’s the hard water), so I decided do something that I never thought I could ever do before. BANGS! I love them. I also cut them myself (a week after the stylist refused to do it for me). East London should be the mecca of the Blunt Bangs Brigade. I’ve never seen so many fringed ladies in my entire life.

As for books, two of my fav are Fall On Your Knees by Anne-Marie MacDonald (dark, but I was unable to put it down) and The Girls by Lori Lansens. Also, Runaway by Alice Munro is an absolutely AMAZING compilation of her short stories.

I second “The History of Love” (which is beautiful, and not at all a cheesey romance novel like the title suggests) by Nichole Krauss or “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” which is written by her husband Jonathan Safran Foer.

Or, if you need a quick, light read, find a copy of Ms. Pettigrew Lives for a Day, even if you’ve seen the movie. The book is so sweet.
