3 years ago today, after 24 hours of labor, you were born.
You gave us quite a scare, but we witnessed your strength almost immediately. We knew things were going to be okay when your neonatologists joked during morning rounds that they couldn’t even remember why you were in the NICU anymore. You were only a couple of days old, yet I was already in awe of your resilience.
Five days later, we were able to take you home with us.
Within three minutes of introducing you to our new home, you shat your diapers so violently, it shook the foundation of the house. Wito! Such power from such a small body!
Were you really ever this tiny?
Or sleepy?
During the first few months, you couldn’t get enough of hanging your head backwards and strrreeeetching your rapidly growing body.
I was smitten.
Good lord, you loved to eat. From your 3-month checkup on, your size has been off the charts.
Those cheeks.
And those thighs.
And daddy’s blue eyes.
That combination could only mean one thing.
From the minute you started walking, you’ve been confident forging your own way. A true leader.
(Must be the Leo in you…)
You are also a seasoned traveler. In the past few years, you’ve been to Cabo San Lucas, San Diego, Palm Springs, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Boston, Oklahoma, Chicago, Charleston, SC and Sun Valley, Idaho.
You are happiest outdoors.
While surrounded by friends.
I’m not sure if you will be an architect,
a cowboy,
an artist,
a surfer,
an explorer,
or a mad scientist…
I’m just so grateful to be part of the ride. Thank you for making my life infinitely better.
