Odds and Ends

1. The above made me laugh – I know I’m guilty of an abundance of inspirational pins!

2. I miss running, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that my anxiety ramped up big time when I stopped last year. I love what yoga is doing for my body and mind, but sometimes I think my body (and overactive brain) needs a good ol’ heart-thumping pounding of the pavement. To me, this illustration says it all.

3. Did you see the Bill Murray Q&A on Reddit? Awesome.

4. Hypomomdria. It’s a thing. Must I remind you of this? You guys, if you do anything today, please marvel at that old post of mine. A surgical mask. I WORE A SURGICAL MASK. My, how things have changed…well, with the hypomomdria, at least. Can’t say much about my personal hypochondria. (Still crazy in regards to that one.)

5. Dude, Captain and Tennille are getting divorced after 39 years of marriage. A moment of silence….or a dance routine with some fresh costumes, if you will.

6. I am so going to make a gluten-free version of this tomorrow. Gluten-free oats and maybe almond or coconut milk?

7. This is the world’s greatest supplement cheat sheet. I’ve got a post on my personal daily supplement regimen coming soon.

Happy Friday, folks. Enjoy the weekend!

  1. I totally want to hang that Oatmeal posted on my wall, because YES. I’m so sorry you can’t run, friend. When I hurt my foot in December I was so mad, and so sad.

Big hugs to you and yours on this fine Friday. xoxo

  2. I’ve been waiting for a supplement cheat sheet! Can’t wait to see what you’ve decided to go with.

  3. A few years ago, my doctors told me I couldn’t run anymore unless I wanted to continue to do serious damage to my naturally degenerative discs. I miss running, too, but have found that a good, steep hike will give me the same heart-pumping benefits without the wear-and-tear on my spine. There is something about the clarity from the top of a mountain (or large hill), about being outdoors, about hearing your heart thud in your chest. If you’re ever in Phoenix… xo

  4. I love that quote! And I totally agree with you, hard-core exercise, like running just does something different than yoga. Not better or worse, just different. I can’t wait to have this baby so I can get back to my weight lifting and cardio-queenness:)

  7. My jaw just dropped at the Captain and Tennille bit. Clearly a child of the 70s.

  8. Sarah, in regards to #2, you’re speaking my language. I find that heart pumping, sweat dripping, hard breathing workouts have special powers. I lead a fun workout at Newport Harbor HS Stadium each weekend, usually Saturday at 7am. It’s a whole body workout of laps, stairs, and strength training. Want to join?

  9. I’m loving your new self help bender!! Regarding your anxiety and need for exercise other than yoga…. I’ve recently heard about TRE trauma release exercises. I haven’t read much about it yet, but it’s supposed to be a gentle way to provide the exhaustion to your body. Worth looking into since you can’t run for now.

    • So interesting! Thank you for the rec!

      • Also, I just remembered…. Barre (Barre3) all sounds like TRE type work to me. I could be wrong, but you’re on a bender so I’m sure any new ideas are welcomed :)
