This is going to be a short list, folks. Mama is so sleep deprived this week. (I’m telling you right now, PMS + a couple of childbirths + nearing 40 = WHACKADOODLE. It seems I’m not the only one, either. What gives, you all? Is this happening to you too?)

1. This video of toddlers eating foods is hilarious, and the slow motion is the icing on the cake.

2. Stop what you’re doing and bust out this arm workout from beginning to end. Try not to cry. Hurts so good.

3. 33 meticulous cleaning tricks for the OCD person inside of you. Enough said.

4. Local yogis, I’m still on the hunt for a yoga studio. Looking for zen, not so much “yoga fusion” (aka blaring pop music and headsets). Any recs?

5. I’ve got two articles up at P&G Beauty this week. How to get beachy waves, and 70s-inspired hairstyles. Speaking of, how did your mom wear her hair in the seventies? My mom’s was long, super straight, and she loved to wear it pulled back in a tight ponytail. 70s chic, for sure.

  1. Sorry about the whackadoodle. Love the links! As for 70’s mom hair, I have one word for you: frosted. That’s right. My mom went through many frosting kits during that decade (and possibly into the early 80’s). She preferred short rather than long. Mid-80’s she began a tragic habit of perming her short, frosted hair (poodle) but EVENTUALLY she heeded my advice and stepped away from both the frost kit and perms. She now has a lovely, “naturally-frosted”, attractive do.

  2. I live in Rio!! Come down anytime! The beaches really are incredible. And, yes, I love the slow-mo of kids eating. Olive is the funniest!

  3. Oh that beach does look nice. I don’t mean to sound like one of those weirdos, but I have found a paleo diet is really helpful with mood and bloating in general. Maybe try it for a bit in those days before your symptoms normally appear? xo

    How about “falls” from the 70s?! I remember an aunt who would wear them all the time. Beware the child who asked “what’s the difference between a fall and a wig?”!

    Arm workout. I cried at 2 minutes! I’m going to try to remember to to this everyday until I can get through the entire thing. Here’s to hoping that the I avoid black eyes from my wings swingin’ back and forth!!

    LOVE the video of the kids, the music is brilliant.

  5. I’ve become a crazy person since having my second kid and hitting 36. Major anxiety around ovulation, headaches, etc. good times.

    • Yep, anxiety around ovulation big time. :(

      • For what it’s worth, seems like a lot of my friends are going through the same thing to varying degrees. It’s now pretty clear that I had post partum anxiety (which I had no idea was a thing) that started about 3 months post partum with scary physical symptoms ( think drs ordering brain MRIs to test for ms. Good times). It’s lingered, and seems hormonal. Acupuncture helped tremendously when it was at its peak, as does really regular sleep and (i think) calcium with magnesium. Would love to hear what supplements you’ve tried. I never had any anxiety problems until the last year ( baby is now 11 months, and also have a 6 year old)

    Not sure what side of the bay you’re on. Have you tried Yoga Shakti in the University Center? It’s across from UCI and next to Trader Joes (after your savasana, you can get your grocery shopping done!) It has a university vibe so it’s very mellow and down to earth. No one’s paying attention to what you’re wearing or competing to do the hardest pose and strangers actually chat and smile at each other! I used to follow a teacher named Tom, who has since left, but my sister loves Brynn.

    That is officially the weirdest arm workout I’ve ever done, and I love it! hehe. I don’t see how it could possibly help with hanging skin around triceps like she claimed it would — unless I was doing it wrong (always a distinct possibility!) this was mainly a shoulder/upper arm workout, I think? Whatever though. I felt like a complete loon doing it, but it was fun, nonetheless. :)
