The Draper Report – Mad Men Season Premiere

I must admit, Kristen and I have felt a teensy weensy void in our hearts since commencing our Dishing on Downton hiatus. (I’m still pissed about Dan Stevens. Jerkwad.)

Luckily, Downton Abbey isn’t our only television obsession. Yes, you guessed it, we love all things Mad Men, and will be filming our weekly episode recaps directly after the show in my living room every Sunday night while our children slumber. That, my friends, is some serious dedication.

Without further ado, I give you The Draper Report.

p.s. – My camera cut off hence the abrupt end. Even the camera knew we shouldn’t be talking about this episode for 11 minutes.

  1. I am so glad that you ladies are going to do Mad Men recaps like you did with Downton. You both crack.me.up.

Don is such a slore (slut +whore). I was also SO confused as to who Sandy was and could not keep the doctor straight either. Why did Betty leave behind the violin after the guy basically let her walk away with it? Like, at least keep the pricey instrument.

I have a feeling that Sandy will return (from California apparently) and get Sally to run away with her and become hippies together. Sally then returns 9 months later with a baby son named Rainbow.

  2. After watching the episode and feeling totally lost, it was reassuring I am not the only one wondering who all these new characters are who seem to be important. Also, I can’t handle vomit either, I don’t do bodily fluids. Great recap, hope the season gets better.
Sarah recently posted…you know you are officially an adult when. . .

  3. WEll, the fact that she was reading Dante’s Inferno on the beach just cracked me up! Strtange series which has created a lot of buzz and talk of some guy’s (Jon Hamm) evident manhood etc makes it all just a bit different from the normal run of the mill.

  4. Oh my god, thank you for this. I just finished watching the episode last night, couldn’t sit through the whole thing in one shot. To say that it left me deeply confused would be an understatement –crikey, what a hot mess that was. I do love me some Roger Sterling though. Will look forward to your next recap.

  5. This was hysterical you guys crack me up always! BTW love your lamp, where’s it from? Sorry, wavering from my initial thoughts… I was and am a huge fan of mad men however my opinion about the direction it has taken can be summarized very easily: trying too hard. It’s just trying too damn hard to be thought provoking and “artistic” when really its just dumb and transparent. I think the show really started out strong and they wanted to be respected as upper brow television when they were all along, but now it has just gotten to be a little far out. Just my humble opinion, don’t get me wrong I’ll never stop watching I love the costumes too much. xx!

  6. You girls are a hoot! I want more thoughts on Peggy. I’m lovin’ her arc — Don trained her well. She’s so smart and a little mean. Can’t wait ’til she rules the world. And didn’t Megan think it odd that Don was gone for so long in the middle of the night? She must be a very sound sleeper. Don is one dark, messed-up dude. He needs to hang out more with Peggy.

I came here for clarification and like others above glad to find out I was not the only confused one!
