Favorite Products for a Smooth and Shiny Blowout

22

Instead of sprinkling product recommendations randomly throughout my posts, I am planning on putting together some videos where I list all of my favorite products in one place. That way, you don’t have to go pilfering through years of posts looking for that ONE time I might have mentioned my all-time favorite shampoo/curl product/curling iron/etc. (Seriously, DUH. Why did it take me so long to do this?)

Today’s video is all about smooth blowouts. My favorite products, tools and brushes for several different types of hair. Enjoy!

Fekkai Glossing Cream

Please leave a comment if you would like to request a favorite product subject. Dry shampoos and wavy hair products are the next two in line, but I’d love to hear your thoughts!

  1. I tried to watch it but I got a pop up saying “this is a private video”?

  2. I’d love a recommendation for a great product for curly hair – I’ve used your product recommendations for when I blow my hair out, but need something great for when I let my hair air-dry naturally. You mention great products to enhance curls for girls with wavy hair – what about something that provides more control for curlier girls? I have fine but course hair that straightens easily but curls up when I wear it natural. Thank you!!

  3. I tried to watch but it says it’s a private video. :(

  4. I got the private video message too. Damn, I really wanted to know how to get smooth hair – that’s my biggest issue because usually it’s nothing but frizz.

  5. Fixed! (I think.)

  6. love the video. also love your yellow blouse — where is it from?

  7. I have been using the Pantene smoothing Balm. It is fantastic! I’m in the process of growing out my hair (again) and it makes my hair look shiny, healthy and purty. I have to say all your picks are spot on! (still using the terax conditioner… Love!) Keep up the good work.

  8. Hi
Wanted to add my video of my favorite smooth and shiny blowout along with my favorite tools. Please email me back with details. Biolustre is for every hair type that transforms your hair into smooth shiny luscious strands. I cant wait. Ive been using this product for awhile now and i absolutely love it and want to share it with everyone in need.
    Thanks a bunch

  9. Oooooo, thank you for posting this, I recently started having Keratin treatments after dealing with curly frizzy hair for 34 years. It’s been awesome but is seriously different than styling curly hair! I’m going to pick up a few of these and try them out. I’ve longed for shiny hair, maybe 2011 will be my year!

  10. I’ve tried Fekkai’s Glossing Cream, the Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Styling Tonic, & the Bumble and Bumble Tonic…all are winners for my relatively fine, wavy hair.

(I’ve never tried the Glossing Cream on damp hair, but I’m going to give that a try tomorrow.)

I don’t have any questions, but I just wanted to say thank you . Your reviews have helped me make better choices with products I buy. I used to buy so many that just didn’t make sense for my hair; I still buy a lot of hair stuff, but I tend to love more of what I buy.

You’ve also convinced me of the value of making some bigger investments – a really good flat iron helped me go longer between washing and styling, and that alone has helped me grow my hair out. (I’m 39, and finding my hair is growing out differently than it did when I was in my 20s.) My next investment might be the Mason Pearson brush. (I’m almost there.)

Anyway…all that to say, “Thank you!” :)

  11. Redken Align 12 works really well, but it does have a strong scent. Not bad, just perfume-y. Thanks for posting this; I am in the market for a new flatiron since the death of my Chi (RIP).

  12. oh i love this video! thank you!

i have a question but not sure it would warrent a video. when you travel, do you bring your own hair dryer or do you rely on the hotel blow dryer?

  13. You mentioned that you iron your hair after blow drying, I do as well and was wondering if you reapply a product to protect from the heat of the iron? I want to invest in a good dryer. Have you ever tried bespokes featherweight hair dryer? I can’t decide if that one would be be as good as the sedu 4000i with the added benefit of being light. While I would like a light dryer I ultimately want one that delivers shiny straight hair fast. What do u suggest? Great video by the way!

  14. Amy in StL says:

I have fine slightly wavy hair (just wavy enough so that I can’t let it air dry without looking frumpy) I loved Aveda Smooth Infusions for blowing my hair out straight and not getting flyaways which are so common with my fine hair.

However, on my Dec trip to NYC, I was bummed because that product didn’t come in travel size. I bought the Bumble and Bumble styling Creme at Walmart (WALMART?!?) and it’s been awesome. It’s not cheap ($8 for 2oz) but I don’t have to make sure I get to the mall when I run out. It also works so much better than the Aveda stuff. I still can’t believe I solved a lot of hair dilemma at Walmart….

  15. I was just noticing my blow dryer isn’t working as well as it should…Ordered the Sedu tonight!

  16. christina says:

what eyeshadow, mascara, etc. are you wearing in this video?! i love your eye makeup!

  17. Kimberly says:

I bought the FF Glossing Cream after watching this video & was shocked that it does absolutely NOTHING for my hair! I have fine, wavy hair that is mostly easy to straighten.

Did anyone else experience this?? It got stellar reviews on Sephora, so I was really expecting it to be amazing…. I guess for now I’ll stick to my Aveda products…

  18. Lyndsay says:

Pantene Beautiful Lengths Smoothing Balm is amazing. I’m obsessed with it. And it’s dirt cheap! Thanks for the recommendation.

  19. i use FRIZZY LOGIC by Original&Mineral to tame, gloss and make my hair smell AMAZING! it has UV protection as well. cant recomend it highly enough

  20. hey, I use a great redken product smooth finish that works. Smooth Down you can buy it in a litre bottle to save money. I went to vidalcassoon.com
