Hair Share — Sexy Hair Volumizing Dry Shampoo

13

The lovely Mir sent a tip introducing me to her very favorite new product. I personally haven’t tried it due to my immense PASSION for Klorane Dry Shampoo (been using it for years on my bangs and I still adore it…), but it sounds like a winner. Have any of you tried this out? I definitely like the price point. (Approximately 13 bucks.)

If you haven’t tried it yet, run and get yourself a can of Sexy Hair Volumizing Dry Shampoo. It works like hairspray — creating body and hold — but without ICK. The instructions say to spray it on, leave a couple of minutes, and then comb out… which I guess would work if you were truly using it as dry shampoo. But my stylist showed me to spray it on the roots for lift, just kind of mush it around with my fingers a bit, and then leave it there for the body boost.  At the end of the day when I brush it out my hair still feels perfectly clean! And then if I want to skip washing the next morning I can just spray a little more and repeat. It’s a miracle in a can, I tell you!

(I haven’t tried it when wearing my hair curly, but I love love LOVE it when I wear it straight.)

  1. how does it smell? i have tried a couple dry shampoos, but have yet to try one that doesn’t make me smell like an old lady…

  2. Sounds like something I want to try!

  3. As someone who has tried almost every brand out there (except for the original Psssssssst!), I can say that this one isn’t bad overall.

Personally, as someone with dry, fine, color-treated hair, it wasn’t my favorite — I felt it added a texture to my hair that made me cringe to touch it. However, the smell was decent and it did it’s job.

I did end up returning to my favorite Ojon, but I gave my sister the rest of the Big Sexy, as she has thicker, oilier hair than I. And for her? It works great – even with her dark brunette color.

  4. I’ll echo Darcey on the scent… it’s pretty light, and not bad at all. Highly preferable to hairspray!

As for the texture issue, it does “thicken up” the hair to the touch, a little. I have pretty thick hair and so the different (to me) was not that big, nor was it a bad price to pay for the benefits.

Also I paid WAY TOO MUCH by buying mine direct from my stylist, so I am going to go cry now. And then buy some more from Amazon. ;)

  5. I’m always in the market for a good, cheap dry shampoo. This one is on the shopping list!

  6. I love the way this one smells. I’m currently using it. :)

  7. I’d totally be down to try it! My roots start to get oily within a day of washing, so I looooove dry shampoos. My Fekkai is by FAR the most fantastic smelling thing I’ve ever put in my hair, but it’s expensive. Other products from the bigsexyhair line have worked well for me, so I’ll check it out at my next Ulta trip.

  8. I will definitely be picking me up some of this!

  9. Anyone know where to buy this in NYC? Duane Reade doesn’t seem to carry the whole line of this brand…thanks!!

  10. I’m a big fan of dry shampoo for every other day when I don’t wash my hair. I tried Ojon, but wasn’t a huge fan (and it was kind of pricey). I just bought the Klorane brand in the powder version for traveling, and I will definitely give this one a shot too! Thanks for the tip!

  11. I don’t love this product, although I really wanted it to work out! I think it smells a little like clay, and I needed to flash blowdry my hair to perk it up after using it.

I prefer TIGI’s dry shampoo which smells like grapefruit and is lighter weight.

  12. Yes! They carry this at my salon, Dominic Michael Salon. It is amazing! Especially in the winter when my hair gets super dry and static-y. I’ll go a day or two without washing my hair with water; then I’ll use this, and it looks amazing. It’s a great way to keep moisture in dry locks.
