We’re baaaaaaaack. YOU GUYS, what did you think of the Downton Abbey premiere? Kristen and I were a little bored out of out gourds. Hoping for a little zing zang flavor next week. We filmed these videos after watching the British series, which had the first episode split into two shows, hence the two videos.

When I was reminded on Saturday that the show was airing last night, I think I got a bit too giddy, because my husband said “you shouldn’t be that excited about a TV show”. haha. I just love it. Love the fashion. Love the accents. What’s not to love?!

January 6, 2014 at 2:54 pmHi Sarah, I agree the show was pretty slow, but so is your recap! I only managed to watch 5 min of your part one video. You sound and look like a spoilt teenager, not an almost 40 year old successful entrepreneur and mother of two. From reading your blog I came to see you as far more intelligent, educated and well spoken woman than what you present here, with your high pitched exclamations, half- sentences and strange face expressions. Not sure why you have chosen to play this role for your videos ( I am pretty sure you don’t speak or sound like that in real life), but it is not very becoming…. Ok, it is not very attractive to me, at least. Perhaps I am wrong and your stats for these types of posts show otherwise… But I love your written voice and was excited to watch your videos, be they make up related or D on D, but the two voices / personalities just don’t match up, with the videos coming across too flakey / fake… oh, and I am sure you now that crossing your arms while having a conversation is not recommended – sort of sends the wrong body-language message to your viewers… I hope you take it in the best way possible, as I am excited to see future videos featuring the “real” Sarah! I would suggest maybe not watching our Downton series? (And DEFINITELY don’t watch last season’s Downton videos…you would be disgusted.)
Oh, I also dance like this on occasion, so I’m not sure if you want to stick around at all. Probably not your definition of “intelligent, educated, and well spoken.”

But in any case, we all should be so lucky to have a loving father who jumps to defend his baby girl, even in so trivial of a matter as a blog comment, and he, of course, would never be expected to have an unbiased opinion of her :) good on you! But surely Sarah is quite capable of handling this herself – that is what you have taught her to do on the school playground after all, right ? :)

no, I have no plans to watch anymore of your D on D series. Actually I just finished this season, but I was interested in your take on it, so I thought I would check it out…I haven’t seen your older episodes, so I’ll trust your recommendation and skip them :)
My opinion of you as a “intelligent, educated and well spoken” was based on nothing else but your own writing! That is why I found the difference between your written posts and this video so striking. Agreed that this tv show is “trivial” but …. Anyway, this was just my opinion, and since you always seemed to welcome reader’s suggestions / feedback etc, I entered into this conversation with you. However, not a big deal either way and of course the line “it’s my blog, I will do as I please, you don’t have to stick around” always applies!
I do enjoy you blog and found your post on “2014” quite interesting. Your points about worry / anxiety really resonated with me. And healthy/ clean eating – I have been following gluten and dairy free diet for the last 5 years, and found that after the initial adjustment, it is not so bad. For the last year or so, not 100 percent of the time, and i find that I am able to handle occasional ” indulgences ” quite ok… So I am always interested in experiences of others on the GF path, and plan on checking out your progress. Hope you don’t mind! :)

I, on the other hand, love the chatty format and witty/casual phrasing. I don’t get to watch Downton with anyone at home, so you girls are like girlfriends down for a dish! I laughed out loud at your commentary on Griggs. What WAS his purpose?! I thought, “Yeah, it’s nice to know that Carson was once loved”, but ultimately did was a non-starter.
Don’t stop Dishing on Downton unless you want to. Carry on, ladies!

Sure, it was not one hundred percent complimentary, but that should be expected with some readers at least sometimes on some posts? She was not offensive or rude… She seems to have a high standard for “real” Sarah, and that can’t be a bad thing! But of course Sarah’s blog can’t be everything to everyone , and Anna seems to like the “health” posts but not Downton ones, so you win some, you lose some… No need to get touchy about it…Happy New Year to all! Hope it is filled with more tolerance for big AND small things in our lives and on our blogs! :)

January 10, 2014 at 9:56 amI just watched last night but I wasn’t sitting down watching I was doing other things. After watching your recap I realized that I must have been bored too because I clearly missed a lot!
I did like the interaction between Carson and Mary the fact that she, like her father, is hanging on the the past way of doing things (servants don’t speak their minds), while she deep down understands and appreciates him speaking up which is the way of the future. They are in the midst of working out changing social norms and of course even though he holds onto those old ways too, he loves her so much that he’s willing to risk speaking his mind.
To illustrate how much I wasn’t watching, I thought the returning maid was the one who made out with Robert (talk about the writing going off the rails – that was so overacted it cracked me up!).
The first season was so good because it more about the tension between the classes, history and perspective. Each succeeding season has become more and more soapy and not as enjoyable. Although I do love the Jimmy Fallon parodies that come with each season!

January 10, 2014 at 6:19 pmI think Edna had blonde hair before! And I believe it was styled differently… not as much of the “20’s” style that we saw just now. Maybe they toned down the makeup as well…? I agree with you though- she looks like she has aged at least 5 years since we saw her before. I was like that is NOT the Edna as before.

January 13, 2014 at 5:13 pmI think Jimmy takes Ivy out because he wants to make the other footman (tall, red headed guy, cannot think of his name) jealous because the other guy does like Ivy. Also remember when Thomas kissed Jimmy? I think Jimmy wants to show others that he is not gay, although I wonder if he really feels like he could be. And of course that would be strictly forbidden in that era.
2nd episode did pick up some. Wonder how the rape will affect Anna & Bates relationship and wonder if Bates will find out??
