How Has Your Mom Style Evolved?

I’ve noticed in the past year or so that my clothing options have really opened up – I actually enjoy wearing nice blouses, dresses, and shoes again because I’m 82% sure my children will not ruin them. I have to admit, it’s nice to be completely out of the nursing/spit up/sandbox phase of motherhood, and back to dressing for ME. In this Mama Said video, Kristen and I discuss how our mom style has evolved over the years. What about you? Have you noticed a shift or are you still in the baby barracks?

I used to be a strict military style mama. Everything was done on time when the book said it should be done.
Now, well, let’s just say I’m more ‘relaxed’

My son is 13 months. For the first 5-6 months, I wore a lot of lounge wear, but since then, I think my style is pretty much back to normal. I’ve always worn cotton slip on dresses (that have built in seaming so they don’t look frumpy) and jeans with cotton tops and sweaters, all of which are still child-friendly. Probably the biggest change is not wearing my fancier shoes or dressed-up clothes very often since we don’t get a chance to ‘go out’ much anymore. There is no reason new(er) moms have to dress frumpy until their kids are school-aged; there are so many comfortable and stylish clothes in washable fabrics:)

My son is 9 and my daughter is 1 so while there is a huge age gap there is still a lot of park days/bake days/messy days with both. I like to get in and play with both kids and I’m a sahm so I’m no wear near silk blouses and perfect hair, haha but they’re only little for a short period so I’m okay with it. I think as long as your comfy and happy and feel good it doesn’t matter what you wear be it heels/flats/yoga pants!

I feel this post rings true not just of my wardrobe, but of my decorating style also. My kids are 4, 3, & 4 months old, so my clothes and my house have to be very “washable”. I’m looking forward to one day being able to wear stylish things again and bring out the nice soft furnishings.
