Anne Hathaway’s Pixie

While we’re on the subject of hair, can I express just how badly I want Anne Hathaway’s pixie cut? I’ve been thinking about this long and hard, and here are my thoughts on the matter.

Reasons why I should go for Anne Hathaway’s pixie cut.

1. It is something completely unexpected for me.

2. It would be a breeze to style. Can you imagine how much time I would save?

3. I could have my own Audrey Tatou moment in time.

4. It’s very rare to see a pixie cut where I live. I mean, it’s ORANGE COUNTY, the land of double process and hair extensions.

5. D is totally on board.

Reasons why I should not go for Anne Hathaway’s pixie cut.

1. I don’t look like Anne Hathaway.

Unfortunately, I think we have a winner, folks.

Thoughts? Would you ever cut a pixie?

I’ve been wearing a pixie for about a year now and I love it. I get tons of compliments on it and now I’m actually having a hard time imagining it long ever again. I totally think you have the face for a pixie and it will make your eyes look amazing, but it can be a HUGE shock to the system at first, especially if you have long hair before. Also, it’s a PITA to grow out.

You would look SO GOOD with a pixie cut.

I grew my hair out for 4 years. One Saturday right before Thanksgiving I took my iPhone with a saved picture of Anne to my stylist and never looked back. Best decision I’ve ever made. I would say it helps I have to a pretty great, talented, trendy stylist who I trust to give me a great cut. I live in LA if anyone wants her name. :)

I have almost this exact pixie cut myself and have been rocking it long before Anne joined the ranks of liberated women. Yes that is how short hair makes me feel. On a big day I spend 5 minutes on my hair (cowlick in the front). On an easy day 30 seconds. I haven’t washed my hair in 3 days and today it looks the best of all of them.

I am pretty whether I have long or short hair but with short hair my features come forward. I am 5′ 10″ with a petite frame/features. With short hair the compliments go from you are so pretty to wow you look fierce. When I did the first big chop 8 years ago I thought I would feel less sexy/get less male attention but that has not been the case. I enjoy being able to be bolder with makeup and accessories because my face is not overwhelmed with so much hair.

I have friends who have tried shorter with varying success. Having thick hair that has some body to it seems to be helpful (as I do).

As for growing it out, I would suggest starting with a Ginnifer Goodwin style pixie first. Longer bangs, longer crown. You can still go really short in the back, but then if you don’t like it, it is a breeze to grow out.

Good luck with your decision. On my list of life decisions I’m happy about, having my daughter is first and cutting off my hair is second.

I think you would look AMAZING in a pixie. With your gorgeous face? Total no brainer. I had a Gwyneth Paltrow in Sliding Doors pixie once and have vowed to cut my hair that short at least one more time during my lifetime. I didn’t own it like I should have. Youth is wasted on the young! :)

I’ve been wanting one FOREVER but have been too chicken. I just went from LONG (bra-strap in the back) length hair to a shoulder-length choppy bob, but have been dying to go pixie.
I actually think you would look great with a pixie! You have great cheekbones and features. Maybe wait until summer and then see how you feel!

DO IT DO IT DO IT!! You have to have really good bone structure to pull off a pixie, I think — and you do. It would be so much fun. Also, haircuts are not tattoos. You can always change your hair. It would take a little while to grow out, but it’s just time. And it would be really great to have something so different.

I agree with Kate and Leandra!
I’m a pixie girl, myself! But a platinum one.
Being bold and independent has always been who I am but this cut has become such a part of my personality.
I can’t ever imagine having another hairstyle ever again.
And they’re right, I’ve never had so many compliments from strangers on anything, ever!
Whoorl, you have such wonderful facial features I think the cut would look stunning on you!

You have a great face shape for a pixie cut! You’d look fantastic… not everyone can sport that style and I think that you most definitely could.

I’ve been rocking a pixie cut for 10 years and if you think they’re hard to come by in Orange County, try living in the Midwest! Land of Lost Creativity! Anyway, not everyone can pull off a pixie, but I think you have the facial features to do it. In my opinion, the secret to a good cut is: 1) A good stylist who is experienced in cutting and styling a pixie 2) Product (I LOVE Brocato Shatter) and 3) Having the confidence to pull it off. Just a word of warning, though: If you decide to go pixie and then decide to grow your hair back out, be ready for a slow and painful journey! :)

    Short hair forever!

I have had a pixie cut multiple times, and I loved it every time (well, not the first time…but after some color and learning how to style it I did!). My 11th & 12th grade (’98 & ’99) pictures are both with a pixie cut :)

I have been wanting to go back to it, but am still holding on to some baby weight (which makes my face much chubbier). So maybe when I lose it all I will take the plunge. Until then I will continue to grow it out – it is the longest it has ever been – very close to bra strap length.
