A Mini-Hair Thursday Makeover – The Toddler Bob

I love Whoorlita’s hair. It’s finely-textured, perfectly straight and has the loveliest natural highlights. However, it’s been looking a little, um, straggly lately.

Case in point.

Sweet little toddler mullet.

If you don’t mind, let’s digress and briefly chat about the photo on the right. You see, as Wita approaches her 2nd birthday, it seems she has taken to dressing herself. Here’s a delightful number she threw together on the morning of her hair appointment. Let’s see – we have her colorful striped pajamas as the base layer, followed by a navy jacket she outgrew a year ago, her brother’s swim trunks and brown suede boots, and the piece de resistance, a pair of swim goggles. Let’s get this girl her own fashion blog! Too bad hobochic.com isn’t available.

Back to the hair. Although we live smack dab in the land of little girls with long, sun-kissed locks, I’ve never envisioned my little girl with long hair. Call me old-fashioned, but nothing delights (yes, I said “delights,” and I mean it) me more than a shorter style that shows off all those perfectly lovable baby girl features that will be gone before a blink of an eye. Specifically, the chin-length bob with bangs combo. It’s just so fresh and adorable and stylish, and the cut truly sets itself apart from the sea of baby beach bunnies around here.

So, we did it. With a strawberry lollipop in hand, Wita got her first real cut.

You guys, MAH BABY. It suits her perfectly, and someone might be living vicariously through her daughter right now.

Oh, she looks darling!! Both my girls have always had bobs… they’re easy, and I think the short bangs/stacked bob look is so cute as they get older, too.

Beautiful! I need some help with Sarah’s hair. She’s got fine, really wavy hair that looks pretty wild most days. I’m letting it grow in hopes that it will reach a magical length when it will calm down. Maybe she just needs a good cut!

Oh Leslie, I found the BEST hairdresser! She did both my kids, and I am trés picky about their hair. I’ll email you her info.

Oh, I want to pinch those sweet cheeks!

She just grew up right in front of us today!

I’m still holding off on Claire’s. She is in a similar hair situation and will be 2 on the 26th…I’m just not there yet. Gulp!

I didn’t think she could get cuter. But she did!

I kind of love her outfit that she put together. I definitely think she’ll be a big time blogger someday.

Are you worried about maintenance on the bangs? There is nothing I hated more than getting my bangs trimmed as a kid… all those little tiny itchy hairs tickling my nose. It bugs me just thinking about it. I was also pretty squirmy and they would end up a little crooked.
