How To Donate Diapers Locally
The 1-2-3’s of diaper donation, folks. Does donating a pack of disposable diapers sound like something you would want to do? Are you like me and get diapers delivered in bulk, only to have your baby grow out of them, leaving a few unopened packs sitting around in the garage/under the bed/shoved in the back of the closet? Want to donate them to a family who can’t afford to put clean diapers on their wee ones? It really only takes a few minutes to locate a diaper bank in your area, and a method of transport to get you (and those diapers) over to the bank.
Since I live in Southern California, I will take the guesswork out of the first issue for my fellow locals. Where can Southern Californians drop off diapers?
1) Help a Mother Out – Help A Mother Out (HAMO) is dedicated to increasing access to diapers for families in need. Started by two moms (March, 2009) with an initial investment of $100, this one time diaper drive has evolved into a nationally-recognized grassroots organization raising diapers, awareness, and advocating for long term change in the social safety net.
Diaper Donation Location:
The Treehouse Social Club ~ 426 South Robertson Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90048
Items they take:
- Diapers (sizes 3-6 especially, but all sizes welcome)*
- New cloth pocket diapers
- Baby wipes (UNOPENED)
*They do accept open packs of diapers, but they need to be in original packaging (for health reasons, they can’t accept loose diapers).
To donate disposable diapers, you can drop off directly at their warehouse location:
Southern California Diaper Bank Warehouse
3720 Campus Drive, Suite C
Newport Beach, CA 92660
Contact: Ben Dodson
3) You can always host your own diaper drive too! All the information you need to get started is located here.
If you aren’t in the Southern California area, you can find your local diaper bank here. Remember, all it takes is a minimal amount of effort to get diapers in the hands of those in need! Visit the Huggies Every Little Bottom website for more information. Thanks, you guys!
Disclosure: I have partnered with the Huggies® brand to help promote Huggies® Every Little Bottom program. I have been compensated for my time commitment to the program, which includes writing about my family’s own experiences from my son/daughter’s point of view, and/or their experiences with diapers. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.
