Figuring Things Out

Let’s pretend you are a therapist. I’m sitting down on the couch now.

I’m toying with the idea of consolidating back to one blog. Freelance work is hopping, the kiddos’ activities are increasing every month, and I just feel like running both Whoorl and Hair Thursday is too much. I’d love to be able to focus all of my efforts on one blog, you know?

Plus, writing about hair on an almost DAILY basis at Hair Thursday has become, well, harried. Sure, I still want to share hair inspiration or a product review or a makeover post, but why can’t I just do that here at whoorl? Remember the good ol’ days? MEMORIEEES, LIGHT THE CORNERS OF MY MIIIIIND)

Hmmm, maybe I’m just having a moment. Who knows. Do you have any thoughts on the matter?

Bring it back over here, and make it an occasional feature for when you feel like it. In the grand scheme of things, feeling obligated to an effort you no longer care about is a waste of everything, and doubly so when it’s an online effort.

Sounds like you already know what you need to do…

Whatever you decide, have NO guilt about your decision! You’re fabulous no matter what. :)

I always say blogging shouldn’t cause you stress or guilt. I like Sarah Brown’s idea of making it an occasional feature. You should focus on whatever makes you happy, lady!

Could you take a long vacation from it for awhile? Maybe instead of Hair Thursday make it Hair August?

I agree with Steph, it sounds like you already know what your path should be. They say to follow your bliss; so if hair isn’t your bliss anymore then you do need a new path to follow. You don’t need anyone’s permission but your own. Best of luck.

The thing I miss about Hair Thursday is the reader makeovers, and it would be fun to see them happen every once in awhile here (if you want to do them). But it is important to go with your passions, and if you aren’t excited about hair right now don’t do it!

Hmm what if you did it once a month? Or brought other contributing writers/editors in? I love me some Hair Thursday but I also love reading Whoorl.

Don’t feel any guilt if you want to move along! You always have to do what’s best for you and your family! Plus, I confess that I do not visit Hair Thursday regularly but I do love reading about things here at Whoorl.

Pretty sure Sarah Brown said it best.
Make it an cccassional feature here, when the mood strikes.

The great thing about blogging, as a business, means you have a very easy exit strategy. Simply stop. No conclusion, no farewell, no “see you soon.”

The only thing preventing people from doing that is themselves. Odds are many won’t notice, or care enough to comment. They read so many blogs they’ll move on. The few that do miss you? They’ll seek you out and you can write to them individually. But only if you want.

Good hair means never having to feel guilty. Or say sorry.

    xo,
    just another Sarah

p.s. If it weren’t for you, I’d have never discovered the magic of Glossing Creme and for that? There aren’t thanks enough, really.

I’m with that second Sarah commenter. Don’t feel guilty if you don’t feel like doing it anymore!

I’m also with Martha – I thought Hair Thursday started as an overflow from the reader makeover suggestions…? I do miss seeing those, but I can imagine finding inspiration for them in photo-form would be a lot of work/time…
