Lisa Eldridge

First off, thank you so much for your comments on the boot camp post. Every single one put a huge smile on my face and made me jazzed to work that much harder in the upcoming months. I don’t say this enough, but I feel so lucky to have such a rockstar group of individuals reading this blog. Regardless of what I ramble on about, you always manage to be my very own cheering section. So, thank you thank you thank you!

Okay. On with the subject du jour. MAKEUP. I’ll admit it, I’m slightly obsessed with makeup tutorials on YouTube. Although the majority of tutorials go way beyond my personal day-to-day look, there is something about watching a face completely transform in 5-10 minutes that just sucks me in. Love love love.

A few months ago, I stumbled across some videos by Lisa Eldridge. (Am I the only person who immediately thinks of this when saying the name Lisa? GIMME DA KEYS!) I was instantly drawn to Lisa’s video tutorials because we share the same coloring, so it was easy to envision how her makeup selections would look on my face. I watched a video, then another, then another, and suddenly my entire Saturday had passed. She is amazing – her looks are fresh and current, her manner is lovely, and I could listen to her British accent all day long. I’ve seen every single one of her videos (some upwards of ten times), and she completely inspired me to revamp my makeup collection and focus more on my skincare routine. In fact, many of the products I talk about in my Monthly Favorites videos are ones I learned about through Lisa’s tutorials.

Folks, what I’m trying to say is that I’m dangerously encroaching Single White Female territory over here.

Here are my three favorite videos by Lisa, but you must check out her blog as well. I adore her!

“He don’t even got a license, Lisa!”

This is something my brother and I say to each once every few days. CLASSIC.

(And the make-up stuff is good too!)

First, Berlin Hair Baby, and now Lisa?! I majorly owe you, Sarah, for introducing these ladies to me! (and I also blame you for all the other things I’ve neglected whilst watching these vidoes.=))
    Thank you!

RE: your last post. You look amazing! Good work. You’ve inspired me to start working harder.

    Have a great day!

I could LISTEN to her all day. That accent is dah-ling. I used to be so much more diligent about putting on my make-up. Now I do it in the car when Will drives me to work.

My main issue is that I just can’t find the right match for me for a foundation/tinted moisturizer. I’ve tried tons. I always feel like they show every single hair and look so cakey. I’ve got a BlogHer gift card and will hit up Sephora today.

First with the fitness motivation and now makeup… You’re helping me turn things around in 2011. ;-)

Maura, tinted moisturizers have always been hard for me too. First off, I like to use a regular moisturizer. I don’t want to apply a tinted moistuizer straight out of the shower, but if I apply both products, I look a little TOO dewy. I’ve started to consider super lightweight foundations instead.

I noticed that Lisa talked about a foundation recently (inexpensive!) that is supposed to be super light. It’s called Rimmel Recover Foundation. I think I’m going to try it out. She spoke of it in this video:

Also, I will say that my favorite tinted moisturizer by far is Cosmedicine Honest Face.

They used to sell it at Sephora, but you can find it at other retailers, and It’s the best I’ve found so far. (I’ve tried 1,000,000.)

I’ve been a follower of her on youtube for a little bit now and I love her too. :)

Oh my gosh, I love her too. On the smoky eye, I *never* would’ve thought to add that last brownish pink MAC color over the top, but it looked amazing. I’m hooked.

Now I just need to find a blond, tanner version of her so I can see what things would look like on me!

Kristen, I know! I love that MAC color, but unfortunately, it’s been discontinued. :( Whyyyyyyy?

I think I’m going to find or order the Rimmel. The closest store that carries it is 7 miles away in NJ… that doesn’t seem far, but I don’t drive very much in Philly.

Just checked the Sephora website and they only have a few Cosmedicine products… maybe my local store will have it.

Thanks for the suggestion and the videos. I watched a bunch of them already!

Eeek! Thanks for the links. I know how I’ll be spending my day.

I’m glad you’ve admitted to being a little Single White Female with her. Now I can admit that I’ve been SWF’ing your hair. But now that you cut it, I don’t know what to doooooo.

She’s awesome! She’s like the Nigella Lawson of makeup. I wish there was a product index on her site—one-stop shopping for every product she’s used in every video.

Can anyone weigh in on Laura Mercier’s lip plumper? I like Nars lip gloss best, and Sephora commenters are giving LM bad marks on the long-wearing-ness of her glosses. Not that I need another lip gloss… or lip product of any kind, really.

Very simple make-up. British accent. What more can a gal ask for ;)

Her colors are my colors too. This makes me happy.

    Thanks for sharing! :)

Oh no, I did not need this. At all. Between this and another makeup post I read today (Mrs. Priss’s) I reckon it might be time for me to come clean about my own makeup obsession. (My makeup kit rivals the size of one of Chris’s tool boxes. And he has A LOT of tools.) It’s a sickness, really.

@Amanda – Lisa doesn’t have an all-inclusive list, but she does list all of the products used below each video on her blog. :)

@Home Sweet Sarah – I knew from the minute I saw that photo of you on Flickr (when I emailed you about your eye makeup) that you were also a makeup junkie. Get ready to spend your entire day watching Lisa’s videos. They are like crack!!

OMG so love her… just listening to the way she talks is amazing and then add in all the awesome tips and product recs – LOVE. You’re so lucky you two have the same coloring, because I would steal all her looks if her and I shared the same (need someone with blue eyes, fair skin, and freckles!). Thanks for sharing!
