My New Look

Here it is! I took the plunge and went collarbone length. This is the new cut air-dried with my natural wave. (And some help from Pureology Nourishing Nectar Sculpting Gel. I love this new product, and I don’t even have colored hair! Wavy girls, get thee some ASAP!!)

Now, I won’t lie. I was shakin’ in my boots last night.

Tera starting cutting the back, and when she stepped away for a second, I took a photo of the floor behind me.

I may or may not have had a small “moment” at that point.

I know, I know. It’s just hair! But I’ve had really long hair for a REALLY LONG time, so it’s become somewhat of a security blanket for me.

Goodbye, security blanket! After cutting, drying, flat-ironing and texturizing, I left the salon with a fresh look.

It’s going to take a little while to get used to (so long, topknot), but I love that I can wear it both straight and wavy for a completely different vibe. Hooray for new hair!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Dude, you look as lovely as ever! I was expecting a hack job of a houselady cut (i.e., mom jeans for your head), but this is really, really nice and it especially suits you natural wave. I predict you’ll love it in no time.

    oh pretty pretty lady!

the length you now have it at will become my new goal. i chopped mine last year thanks to your short mena suvari post you did. i’ve loved it but i’m growing it back out.

i’m a curly gal like yourself, and have a TON of hair… so your precious pic will become my inspiration to keep me from going to my stylist and crying for the scissors.

looks like you could use a celebratory cocktail.

It’s beautiful!! I feel your pain, though, after a fairly drastic cut. I also went from long to shoulder length and cried for days. (And I know – it’s just hair. I was always the one telling the criers that!)

You have such fabulous hair that you can pull off any look. Have fun finding new styles with the new length!

LOVE the shorter do! Like the previous poster said, it puts more emphasis on your face. So pretty!

Thanks for the info on the Viva Glam V lipstick. I’ll definitely have to check that out. Do you mind if I also ask what lip liner you use with that color? And what blush (it looks so fresh and natural)? Thanks!

  • Sarah

    December 19, 2010 at 8:47 am

    Hi Alecia,

I have two lip liners that I love. Estee Lauder in Fig and Boots No. 7 in Nude. (You can get Boots no. 7 at Target.)

The blush that I’m wearing in the photo is a Tarte Cheek Stain in Perfect Pink. (It was a limited edition color, and I don’t think you can buy it anymore.)

Please explain what you did with the Pureology Nourishing Nectar Sculpting Gel. They say to blowdry but you said you air dried. Did you scrunch? How much did you use? It looks so soft and shiny! Just a lovely new look for the new year. Hurray for you!

  • Sarah

    December 21, 2010 at 3:40 pm

I towel-dried my hair, applied the gel throughout and air-dried. No scrunching, though. Personally, the more I touch my waves, the worse it looks. Thanks for the kind words!

I was just looking for some hair pics for my friend, and just had to stop and say lovely haircut! Your hair almost looked too long for you. The shorter cut really accentuates your features so well. You could probably go for shorter if you wanted to, you could totally pull off a great bob. =)

  • Robo

Cut looks quite good, but I REALLY love the long hair!

  • Kim

    July 19, 2011 at 12:51 pm

You new ‘do’ is pretty, loved your long hair too. You have a very pretty face so you can pull off anything ;-) I cut my waist length hair at the end of May, I got tired of it and felt like I looked like everyone else. I have a collarbone length ‘lob’ which looks just ok, I miss my longer hair though and will grow back. What do you think you will do with your new look? Are you going to grow it back or keep it the new length? btw, love this blog! xo

Sorry, but I like the long hair better. I have the same type of wave in my hair, and I got it cut the same length, and honestly I can’t wait for it to grow long again :( In the last pic, it looks kind of damaged and thinned out at the bottom, too many layers. I have the exact same problem.
