Inspiration for Tomorrow’s Salon Visit!

After much hemming and hawing, I think it’s time to take some length off. The collarbone-length cuts are jumping out at me, although with my chin-length bangs, the look wouldn’t be as uniform as some of these photos. Excited to take some of the weight off, though!

Feel free to throw any other ideas into the ring! My appointment is tomorrow evening!

ooooh, i’ve def been eyeballing a few of these too! :o)

do you think you’ll rock the center part or keep the whole side swept thing going?

Can’t wait to see what you decide. I need some inspiration for my appointment next week. Mine is currently bra strap length with light layering in the last 2 inches. I think I’m going to go for more chunky layers all over starting at about chin length. I love Olivia’s new look but then again I also loved her hair long.

I’m getting some inspiration for myself! After growing out my hair forever, I am thinking it’s time to go for a chop after the holidays. That last one of Anne H is swoon worthy. My hair is so stick straight that it take a miracle to make it that wavy-sexy! Good luck with your choice, I am sure it would look fab!
    Best,

@MichelleG – I LOVE the center part, but unfortunately I have this crazy cowlick so the part has to be a little bit off-center. Also, I’m not sure how much Tera will be able to blend my front layers into the cut. We’ll see.

Here are some of my other concerns (for those who care, heh):

My biggest concern with this cut is that my hair LOVES to flip up at the ends when it’s shoulder length, which I kind of despise. No matter how much flat-ironing I do, it still flips up. Gross.

Also, with my grown out bangs and waves, I feel like it is going to look like Liz Lemon’s hair.

Don’t get me wrong, Liz Lemon is my very favorite television character, but I don’t really want that poufy-wavy-side-swept-in-front look.

DO YOU SEE MY DILEMMA, PEOPLE??? HELP ME.

Also, do I really like the hairstyles in the above photos or THE PRETTY PEOPLE???

All hair that touches the shoulders tends to flip somewhat. If it has your texture, more so. We need to cut it so it fall just above or a couple of inches below the shoulders to avoid that!
PS- Damn that cowlick to hell because you would be so cute with a center part!
    Can’t wait for your appointment!!

My hair was your length and I decided to cut it back to shoulder length. My hair is a lot thinner than yours due to a hormonal shift after stopping birth control pills. I am really digging it. It looks so much fuller and healthier now. Mine looks a lot like the last photo of Hathaway, but with bangs.

Love both of the Anne Hathaway styles and think they’d look great on you, particularly the more relaxed, wavy look.

Love, love, love all of the pics and think they would look great.

Though I must admit, I also weep a little when I think of you chopping off your lovely locks – you’ve become my go-to internet hair-inspiration reminder of why I should let my hair grow!

I am sure it will look fabulous no matter what you decide! :)

@tera – If I managed to train my bangs to do what they’ve done over the past few years, I bet I can work the center part. Going to mess around with it today. (If my baby ever stops crying!! UGH.)

Love the bottom right Anne Hathaway cut. Your hair would rock that. On another random note, look at my Gravatar how red I’ve gone since my Hair Thursday 2 years ago! Still so grateful for your help!

I absolutely LOVE the third one! I am currently in the process of growing mine out and hope to reach that length before I give in to cutting it short again.

I love Alexa Chung’s hair in this photo:

It looks like she is/was growing out bangs too.

Oh I love those…and I think it’ll look so great on you. Can’t wait to see!

I made an appointment for next week – have super long now, and am thinking of this short Katie Holmes-esque bob: http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2008/gallery/mothers_day_fashion/katie_holmes.jpg (on the left),

It’s the straight version of what I really really wish I could have – the gorgeous Marion Cotillard bob Roxanna posted here: http://www.everydaytreats.com/2010/08/hair-desire.html.

And…I have also been playing with the idea of going super short…http://www.stylebistro.com/lookbook/Short+Hairstyles/FJ0LmUF3i98,

    http://www.usmagazine.com/hotpics/photos/blue-party-2010312…probably won’t, but wish I could!

@Meghan – I LOVE the red! Your complexion is just glowing!

@Sara – Great photo! So modern looking and I love the texture. Adding it to the arsenal right now.

I think the key for me is what Tera mentioned about keeping it a couple inches below the shoulder to keep it from flipping up. Let’s get this thing done! ;)

i’m kind of thinking your hair seems most similar to…Helena? (Upper right corner)…and while it’s cute, it does seem a bit Liz Lemony.

Maybe pick a cut that works if you decide to style thie twisty-braid thing, like this:
    http://www.hairthursday.com/archives/4022

(I only mention it because I like it camoflaguing my ohmygodjustgrowoutalready bangs, which are about 2/3 of the way to being full length again. I sometimes just part my hair on the side, and do the twisty thing on the “bigger” side with a tiny little clippy thing. I’m liking it for now, because it tames the Liz Lemony affect I might otherwise be sportin’ (Not that you asked.)

The Anne cut in the lower right might make you feel like your bangs have nearly caught up with the rest of your length, though.
