Meet Kellie.

kellie_before

Kellie’s hair:

Light-to-medium brown
Doesn’t want to deal with the financial upkeep of professional hair color
Thick, yet fine
Slightly wavy
Takes about 10-15 minutes to style
Doesn’t wear ponytails very often

From Kellie’s email:

I recently moved and am getting settled in a new city and in a new job. I also lost about 20 lbs recently and want to keep moving forward with the self improvements. With all these recent changes, I thought it might be fun to do something different my hair. I’m not afraid of losing some of the length, though I find going any shorter than just below the chin makes me look too young and is unflattering. Any thoughts on what kind of length or style would look good?

Oh, DO I have some thoughts for you, Kellie. It’s just that I keep forgetting them after staring at those gorgeous eyes!

Let’s focus on emphasizing those peepers, shall we? Take a look at these options.

I love the big bends and body throughout Hayden Panettiere’s soft, shoulder-grazing hairstyle. This style would look gorgeous on Kellie – it would play up her natural volume, but the length would keep the focus on her facial features. Also, Kellie should consider playing with a soft, smoky eye palette when applying her makeup. It’s not necessarily something she should bust out at her new job (hello, world! I’ve lost 20 pounds and I want to look sexaaaay at work!), but a muted grey or even a bronze smoky eye would look fabulous for a night out on the town!

Now, if Kellie wants to keep a little more length, Briana Evigan’s lustrous, shoulder-grazing hairstyle would be perfect. The sideswept bangs would totally accent her eyes and the layers would add subtle movement throughout – playing up Kellie’s slight wave. I would also recommend doing an at-home, demi-permanent color to slightly darken Kellie’s natural color. A rich brown would be beautiful for fall.

I think the cut of #1 with the suggestion of a demi-permanent color would be great. Or, you could ask your stylist for a color glaze – something that would just add extra oomph to your natural color, but will fade naturally over time.

Gorgeous eyes, gorgeous hair…I think she’s fishin’! ;) I think the side-swept bangs of #2 would be lovely on her, and even going darker a shade or two would really make those eyes pop. Kellie, you don’t have to go to a salon for color; there are some great home-use products.

I think her hair now looks great. She’s pretty. :) Love cut number 1, though.

I’m in love with option #2, so much so that I’ve decided THAT is the cut I’m going for. Been debating hairstyles for about 2-3 months now and couldn’t pick one.

    Thanks for the inspiration!
