Gap Racerback Dress

Yesterday, I found a new dress at the Gap.

I’m quite fond of this dress. So fond, in fact, that my initial thought while trying it on was that I NEEDED TO TELL THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS DRESS. Now, we could over-analyze why that would be my very first thought (hint: slight internet addiction), but let’s not put a damper on this party.

After returning home, I swiftly visited gap.com only to find that the dress was not there! OH NO! How would the internet learn of this special dress? I know! I’ll force D to take photos of the dress in an amateur attempt to emulate one of my favorite blogs, Cupcakes and Cashmere!

(Note to self: You do not possess Emily’s lithe legs. Please do not EVER attempt a tulip skirt.)

Whatevs. This dress is going to be my perfect go-to dress for the summer. Lightweight, comfortable and featuring POCKETS.  Pockets make me weep with joy. (I even put my hand in the pocket for the photo which really did nothing but add 20 visual inches to my hips. Fail.) And although I’m wearing heels in the photo, I think gold Dolce Vita flat sandals will be my first choice. Did I mention the skirt is so billowy and voluminous that you could hide a bottle of vodka underneath for playdates?

Wait! I haven’t told you about the best part. Take a gander.

The racerback, folks. The perfect little detail.

I think my work here is done. Go buy the dress. (But don’t wear it around my neighborhood.)

    I want that dress.

I didn’t see it at the GAP when we went last weekend. I’s probably not available in Canada. Figures.

    You look smashing, my dear.

This dress is fantastic! I’m so glad you took some pictures and posted them. It seems so easy to dress it up or down.

    Kudos on the excellent purchase.

Sarah! It’s AWESOME. That racerback is so unexpected, and so rad.

I like the mix of feminine with the racerback (sporty-ish). Pretty!

I LOVE it. If my boobs weren’t so horrifyingly overlarge, I’d buy one tomorrow…maybe someday!

I just bought that dress in black this weekend. I rocked it at a wedding reception with gold heels – it was a fun outfit. Enjoy your two toned version!

I have to say I ran into this dress about a week ago. It took all my might not to buy it. I am glad to see I have good taste:)

Angella – do not fear! This dress is definitely in Canada.

I tried it on in gray and cream on Saturday. Gorgeous.

I loved the gray and ivory! However, I was nervous about ivory fabric not being enough coverage on top.

Does Oklahoma City count as your neighborhood any more? No? Okay then we’re good!

As a woman cursed (?) with the big boobs, I have to ask – what kind of bra do you wear under that? Or are you blessed with the perky and don’t need one? Sorry if that sounds too personal, I’m really curious. I have a few cute maxi dresses I got from Old Navy and Target and I’m really puzzled about how to handle the bra situation this summer.

Groovymarlin, I can go braless with this particular dress. Mainly because it’s black and the coverage is pretty good.

As for the jersey maxi dresses, I wear a strapless bra. In my opinion, jersey is NOT a very forgivable fabric and let’s be honest, I was a breastfeeder…the girls aren’t as perky as they used to be…

The most comfortable strapless bra I’ve found for my frame is this one:

Love it! Unfortch, the Gap has some blindness when it comes to bust size and dresses in my size that fit everywhere get a little too down-on-the-corner in the bust. Sad day because that dress is seriously phenom.
