hair thursday makeover 60

This is Tessa.

Tessa’s hair:

Naturally medium brown
Very thick, but fine
Normal condition
Needs length for ponytails for sports
Hates styling her hair
Uses no products

Tessa. Please don’t kick my ass (she plays rugby), but if you don’t use products and/or don’t try to style your hair, it will look like those photos FOREVER AND EVER. I wish I could wave my magic wand and give you great, effortless hair, but that ain’t the way the cookie crumbles.

I think taking some of the bulk out of your hair would work wonders. Same for using a product or two – you could really reduce frizziness and promote a healthy shine.

I think this would be a great look for Tessa.

A few inches off the bottom and medium-to-long layers cut throughout will help eradicate the poufy look, BUT she needs to have those layers texturized by her stylist. I like the faux-bangs – enough to give the cut added style, but easy to pull back while playing sports.

Most importantly, PRODUCT. A smoothing serum would work wonders on Tessa’s hair. As always, don’t forget about my favorite, Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream. A tiny dollop of that miracle product would give Tessa more shine than she’s ever experienced.

Do any of you have a smoothing serum that you just adore? Do tell!

Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum is AWESOME and I don’t think I could live without it.

    I second that. Love it.

Aveda Light Elements Shine Serum. I use 3-4 pumps a day and get smooth and shiny hair :)

I second Aveda Light Elements Shine Serum. It’s one of the Aveda products that actually work for me.

I love it – it makes my hair soft and shiny and really does help with flyaways and the like.

I’m thinking BioSilk serum would be a great thing for her as well – just work it through, and walk out the door to let it all air dry. Hell – if it works for me, it can work for anyone.

I’m not the biggest fan of some of Tresemme’s shampoos, but their Anti-Frizz Smoothing Creme is amazing! And unlike liquid shine serums, it adds shine and smooths frizzies without weighing down my hair or making it oily. And it’s only $4 !

But I REALLY want to try Frederic Fekkai. Next time I go to Sephora…

I like using Frizz Ease when my hair is wet and then a little of the Frederic Fekkai and some kind of hair paste (I like Garnier these days, and it’s cheap) once my hair dries. But for long hair I would just do the Frizz Ease and Fekkai. I like my hair products to start with F.

i like john masters leave-in conditioner and his oils which are for skin and hair, they are very light and not oily in the hair. i just got my curly hair cut too short and it controls it w/o weighing it down. i love fekkai, i always return to my french mane man!

i like emily use the frizz ease while my hair is wet (not soaking wet though!) and then i use either frederic fekkai or shu uemura silk oil which my stylist introduced me too.

i think i like all the frizzy products mostly because they smell delicious.

It’s all about the Moroccan Oil.http://www.moroccanoil.com/

It works wonders for shine without being greasy and the best part is that you don’t have to wash your hands after applying it. If you keep rubbing your hands together, it magically disappears. Feels almost like you had lotion in your hands. It IS pricey, but if you ever find yourself at a hair expo, you can get it way cheaper than at a salon.

I don[t know about that cut. What about some Jennifer Garner action? I think that would look great on Tessa.

Ok, so before I go into the drying and shining portion, once my hair has been in my towel for a few moments to get out the excess moisture, I add two pumps of the Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship leave-in conditioner. Comb it through with a wide-tooth comb, and either air dry (if its a weekend), or go to the blow-dry. After the blow-dry, I add the FF Glossing Creme.

The LTR comes in a nice sized pump and is about $4, so not a big investment if you want to test run it.

(And I promise my straight-hair blowout demo is coming soon!)
