It’s a Haiku Holiday

We’re embarking on our annual Tour d’Oklahoma this Wednesday for 10 days. It’s going to be a different vibe this Christmas, with my parents in their new house and my growing dependence on Chex mix and alcohol. So…nothing’s changed except the housing situation.

Instead of disappearing for a couple of weeks, I have made the executive decision to haiku every day until the end of the year. Let’s call it WhoHoHa – Whoorl’s Holiday Haiku. Please feel free to haiku your brains out too. ‘Tis the season, peeps.

Tasty Pinot Noir
Should not have drank the last glass
Ouch, my pounding brain

Pink pajama pants
orange socks, green striped slippers
I am a vision

Dry-roasted peanuts
Why do I eat them, knowing
my stomach will FAIL

One week until Neil’s
holiday concert, I am
not close to ready

Wito is obsessed
with painting, he carries a
palette everywhere

Weather in OK
will be in the low twenties
holy frozen face

Laurie Berkner, I
have mixed feelings about you
Right now, they’re not good

Your haikus KILL me. Did you have this closeted dream of becoming a poet?

Oooohh. Stomach-Peanut FAIL. Ouch. I’m so sorry, because those peanuts are darn-tootin’ good. Thanks be to the Chex Mix.

Best wishes as you head to the frozen Oklahoma tundra. I’m looking forward to more of your descriptive haikus!

Here is some haiku for today’s Southern California weather:

    It is pouring rain
I am going to float away
    Ugg boots, they are soaked

    Drowned rat hair today
    My umbrella did not work
    I look just gorgeous

(Dude. I see why you are on this kick… it’s addictive!)

For some reason, I read all of today’s haiku to the tune of carol of the bells.

Hee! I really like to think that Haikuesday served as inspiration for you, at least on some level. Speaking of which…I need to get back into that habit!
