I’m So Over This Heat

Do you want to hear about the heat? No. Do I want to write about the heat? No. Am I sick of the bang post staring me down? YES. (Although, the bangs? My love grows stronger every day. Highly recommend the bangs.) So, here I am, writing a post. About the heat that is slowly sucking the soul out of my body.

This weekend included a combination of two kiddie pools, one adult pool, several comfortable beach chairs in the shade, two consecutive Ping Pong competition days, cold Pacificos with lime, pizza and barbecue. Yet, I was pissy most of the time.

Trying to perform daily functions in a house that registers 90 degrees inside is just wrong. Your entire body is constantly covered in a slimy layer of sweat. You can forget about sleeping soundly. Or the baby napping. You are forced to spend the entire day outside, sharing your space with the masses of aggressive flies or at the mall with 49 million people. My entire block has eaten dinner outside on patios or lawns for the past couple of days. People everywhere.

My point is, that yes, YES, there is a small downside to living at the beach. And that downside is late-August through mid-September. Other than that, well, it is glorious. (Keep reminding yourself of that fact, Whoorl!)

*Wiping my brow and repeating, “It’s glorious. It’s glorious. Beaches are glorrrrrrrious.”*

The forecast predicts a cooling trend starting tomorrow, so we will keep our fingers crossed.

Oh, look! The bang post has officially been bumped out of sight.

Mission accomplished. Goodbye.

p.s. – Oh! How could I forget? A VERY wonderful thing happened yesterday. I found two pairs of my very favorite flats for 75% off. $150 flats for $37.50! Now, THAT is glorious.

I am now actually appreciating the gloomy fall weather we are experiencing here today. Hoping for the cooling trend to head your way soon!

I can’t NOT talk about the heat.

Woke up this morning and felt significantly cooler, hope it was the same for you guys. (I’m in West LA County.)

It’s been 108 outside and 85 to 90 inside here too. All we have is a swamp cooler, which is usually great. But it’s not so great when it’s humid. Hopefully cooler days will be here soon. Halloween weather would be great.

It’s “only” low 90s here today and I am SO thankful. It’s a little overcast and I never thought I’d be so happy to say that. For once I can walk outside without feeling like I might spontaneously combust. I can’t wait for October. I’m sick of thinking/talking about the heat too, but when it’s this hot, no one can help it.

I was in southern CA this weekend for a wedding (stayed in Irvine; wedding was in San Clemente), and the wedding was outside and just gorgeous. But I have never sweated so much. It was unbelievably hot, and I am from TEXAS.

I actually went to the mall this weekend to try and cool off. Big mistake. Huge!

The thing that saves us in the Vegas summer heat is air conditioning and low humidity. But mid-June through end-of-August can be brutal.

    Hang in there!! :)

I am always PRO griping about heat. Stupid summer and its humidity. I love fall and I can’t wait cold air and hot food.

I know your post is about the heat, and I should comment accordingly, but of COURSE I focus on the fact that you mentioned Pacifico. To which I say, YUM. And that you should run out right this instant and pick up some of Magic Hat’s Circus Boy ale. It’s a hefeweizen, and is just fantastic. We discovered it during vacation, and proceeded to drink copious quantities of it throughout.

Onto the heat: Um…doesn’t it suck how your forehead gets SUPERsweaty underneath bangs? (Or is that just me?)

Yes, it sucks. In fact, my overly-used weekend phrase was “The bangs! They trap the heat!”

I’ll trade you 2 hours of your extreme heat for 2 hours of our soggy, grayness.

Living in Vegas, I can understand your pain. But more importantly- I like the flats, especially the Napa Leather Juti ones. I’ve never heard of Matt Bernson, but Talulah G sells them here.

Ugh. I feel your pain. We had a nasty heat wave in July and even I, lover of all things summer, was heard complaining about the sweat. Oh the sweat.

Hope the heat breaks soon :-)
