The Final Verdict

Hello. Welcome to my running blog.

WAIT, come back! I swear, this is the last of the running gear entries, but I needed to divulge my final and SHOCKING opinion.

I, Sarah of Whoorl, am officially in love with all of my new road-tested (not just trotting-the-sidewalk-with-wine-tested!) running gear.

1. Adidas Response Baggy Short – I love these shorts. LOVE. I ran in both these and the Nike Tempo shorts and for me, the Adidas worked the best. The 4-inch inseam (opposed to the Nike 3-inch) made all of the difference. They are paper-thin, don’t ride up and keep my thighs completely cool the entire time. I am now the proud owner of several pairs.

2. Lucy Energy Sport Bra – The best part about this sport bra? It doesn’t cut off the circulation to my armpits – meaning, no armpit fat bubbling over the edges of the bra. Hallelujah. Oh, and they are on sale RIGHT NOW online for $10.00. TEN DOLLARS, PEOPLE. Get ’em while you can.

3. NikeSportsTee Tank – These have the Nike Dri-FIT technology, so they keep you cool and happy. Plus, I love the colors.

And finally, the skirts. I wanted to love the skirts, y’all. However, I am very sorry to say that the skirts were shipped right back their maker. Personally, I am not a fan for a couple of reasons. For me, the material was too thick. It felt very similar to the sweaty capri pants that started this whole running gear search in the first place. There just isn’t any comparison to the light-weight papery feel of the shorts. Also, the skirt’s waistband sat much higher on my waist than the shorts, and when I attempted to pull it down, it would just ride back up. The compression shorts were visible below the skirt, too. All in all, no. Just no- at least, not for ME. I’m sure the skirts look fabulous on YOU. *kisses*

Now, I’m off to run on a treadmill while running shoe experts analyze my gait and try to help me understand why my right ankle feels like it will break off at any second. Please Jebus, don’t let me trip.

I LOVE Lucy (haha) — but really, I adore their selection and fit. They have great yoga duds. I used to work on their PR account way back in the day, when they were ONLY an online store. You know, when it was cool to have dotcom as part of a company name.

Anyway, I wish we had a Lucy store here… so for now, I buy from them online.

You are too funny. Good for you for getting all analytical with the running gear. I would do myself a giant favor if I would simply put one foot in front of the other in a slow approximation of running, instead of sitting on my couch every night eating Triscuits. You are clearly way ahead of me. As usual! :)

    LOUD EXHALE.

You were the first person I thought of while trying on the skirts. I could just see your face….NO, SARAH! DON’T DO IT! You were right, miss.

Dammit, whoorl! You had to post that link to the “couch-to-5k” running plan…now I have no excuse not to run. I’m new to running (and honestly had been hating it)…I made a commitment to run a half marathon to get my post-pregnancy ass out the door. I’m following the couch potato plan now, and I’m scared I’m starting to like this running thing. Thanks for posting it and giving me the motivation I so desperately needed. Now I’m off to new running gear land.

Delurking to commend you on your goal! I just did all this that you’re doing recently. I decided I needed a goal this year so I’m running a marathon in October. I started with a 5K in March, then a 10K in May, and I’ll have a half marathon in July and/or September. It’s a great goal and you are so right that the clothes and shoes make all the difference. Please keep us updated on your successes! You’ll do awesome!

Half marathon!? WHOAH! That is awesome!

Addidas shorts, check. Lucy bra, need one. Nike (ok I have an Avia one) dri-fit, check. Now I just need to have this baby so I can run along with you.

Can I dare suggest a product for running and long hair? Goodie has no slip elastics that Hubby got in his Marathon kit, I love them. Finally I can put an elastic in my hair and it doesn’t slip or pull while I am doing excercise. It looks like a normal hair elastic with tiny bubbles of rubber that help it not slip. Amazing. Just thought I would add a little something, since I can’t run right now.

    I’ll pick some up. Thanks!
