Grey Days

Gray or Grey? Personally, I prefer the latter.

It’s been overcast all day, which is quite a rarity around here. A rarity that I really enjoy, though. Sometimes 340 days of sunshine a year can get a little monotonous, and I welcome the change of weather. The ocean looks completely different on cloudy days, so dark and ominous, not that much different than Wito’s diaper after a huge helping of bananas, really. (Which, why bananas? Why the grey poop? One of the great mysteries of life.)

Wito’s first tooth popped through and his second is following quickly behind, so he’s been a little off today. I emailed SAJ about a quick walk:

W: Hey, do you want to walk over to Starbucks? I think Wito wants to go outside.

SAJ: Sure. Baby Bug feels the slightest bit warm, though. She isn’t sick, but just in case, I know how you are about germs.

W: Oh, I don’t mind. They just hang in the strollers anyway, but I totally understand if you want to stay around there.

SAJ: Oh no. I totally want to get out. LET ME OUT!!!!!!

W: I HAVE TO GET OUT TOOOOOOOO! HE’S CRAZED!!!

Notice how nonchalance unfolds into true desperation within minutes. Just the way I like it.

So, we grabbed a couple of lattes, walked to the water and embraced the grey. And you would think that one of us would have taken some photos for a SAJ-style slideshow. Alas, we are some lame desperados.

I love a gray day because I grew up in Vegas where it is also sunny 340 days a year. It gets a bit old. But the cold? It gets old faster.

    Sorry, I prefer “gray.”

I’d love to be able to relate to you on the whole appreciating a grey day thing but we just got finished 21 consecutive days without sunshine, so grey days can pretty much suck my ass right now.

Ok, apparently I am WAY too grumpy to be commenting right now. It’s bad like drunk-dialing, grump-commenting. Wow, sorry bout that.

    Me = Lame.

I tried commenting earlier and it didn’t let me! Anyway, I too am enjoying the grey day, despite being stuck here at fever central.

I’m jealous. In Kansas City this week it went from sunny 86 degrees on Monday and today they are predicting snow flurries for this afternoon. If weather here were a mental disorder, it would be bipolar.

The grey days are totally getting to me. I am so anxious for the spring weather to finally stick around it’s driving me crazy! And on top of it, we are actually getting snow. Ugh.

To cope, my focus is at least beginning with some spring cleaning in my kids’ rooms. Then I’m going to bust an organizational move. The company I work for has a great free resource to help with this if you’re interested. It’s at http://www.organizingmyhome.com.

I’ve always been a ‘grey’ girl myself.

I also prefer ‘colour’ and ‘generalise’.

Technically, “grey” is a Britishism, like “favourite” and “colour,” and if I were editing this post (which I’m not!), I’d have to ask you to change it. :(

Well, thanks for raining on my parade. I am crying this very minute.

Exceedingly jealous of Wito’s toothage over here; we’re at 10 months now, and still not one. Congrats to you, though! :)
